Smoked herring? We call them Böckling!

I was expecting a Japanese themed post after your first 5 words and instead of that, it was an international festivus that included Canadian, French, Swedish and Italian references. My brain is hurting.

Edit: I stand corrected on the Japanese soft cheesecake

I once bought 10 pounds of frozen Canadian shrimps for Christmas.

I buy Argentinian oversized shrimps and prep them with a Tempura batter mix. I love the flavor, you just add water to the mix and once in the pan, it takes almost ten minutes to get them golden brown.

I get them as well, from Trader Joe's. They are very good for Shrimp Ceviche or with pasta in a creamy sauce.

Grew up on smoked herring. 1st generation American of Ukrainian decent. Also, pickled herring is fantastic.

I used to pickle herring, you can buy herring fillets in brine in Sweden. You put them in ice water overnight, then you cut them up and make a brine of vinegar, salt, sugar, allspice , white pepper corns and onions. Eaten with potatoes, sour cream, chives and schnapps.

Still feeling the effects from the huge F 1 party and suspect I may have over indulged with my home made brownies, another huge hit!:thumbu: Can't remember drinking so much even had some of that Crystal champagne people rave about, nope not a fan.

Worst thing you can have at a restaurant, apparently. I think it has to do with how long they typically let it sit there once it’s prepped.

Really eh,never heard that. Any other items you recall? Depending on restaurant, lots of places have food ready and keep warm, others re-heat.

These type? small and whole. They say you can eat the shells, never do though, too crunchy. But the tastiest shrimp, just a pain to de-shell.

Oh man,my bad @Per Sjoblom, just saw I omitted a pic of the shrimps in question:doh:
Been behind the 8 ball of late and discombobulated, due to the 8 ball perhaps and the celebrating and all:dunno:

I got gerookte pahling, smoked eel. Not sure I've had smoked herring,do love the fresh pickled herring from the street vendors though. Got my fingers crossed that I can pop up to the NL a few more times next year especially as I assume that the F1 will be back to back with Belgium. If not hopefully Japan will let me in and can always go to the Dutch village and feast in that way. Kinda would be nice to see the mrs after a few years anyways, been kind of hard,or rather I should say it hasn't.

Does TJs have this coffee? Don't usually plug one of our products, but I'm in a giving mood with the season being what it is. Simply the best ever! just thought I'd share the experience.

No, I don't think so although I will have a look next time I am there. They usually have their own brands. I have a Nespresso these days so I only use "Pods", haven't bought any other type of coffee since I got it and that is probably 2.5 months ago.
