I spent most of this game wondering whether you could get away with rhyming "sloppy" and "hockey" in a poem about this matchup.

LOL

I don't recall a GBU thread failing to reach a 2nd page this far after the conclusion of the game in a long time.

The Ruff firing relieved a lot of narrative tension with this season's campaign.

EDIT: and of course when I post that observation the thread makes it to the 2nd page! LOL

That and what ZZamboni put in the previous GBU:

Yea, it's amazing how a few "regular" whiners write plenty during a loss, and won't say anything during a win. Talk about credibility :biglaugh:

Just a super sloppy ugly game of hockey.

G:
-Gerbe rewarded for his last few games of work
-Miller/Vanek SO
-PP goal?!?!?

B:
-Regehr/Pardy both with rough games.
-Stafford should be next to have a game off
-Faceoffs kill them once again

U:
-Time for Grigs to go, he's regressing, and he wasn't doing much to begin with.

G: Gerbes hustle finally paid off - Miller - Vanek and Pommers in the SO

B: Regehr is slow and sloppy - Drew who?

U: Gave up a point - Issues in our own zone continue

Wins a win I guess.

That Huberdeau is a piece of work! First the diving, then the cheap shots/stick work away from the puck...I really dislike this guy as a player.

The Good: one of the better shootouts I recall the Sabres ever having...

A pair of nice saves by Miller and a pair of confident goals from Vanek and Pommer and wham, bam, thank you ma'am, that one was over after 2 rounds.

They made it look easy!

PS: Loved Vanek's reaction to the goal. Or rather, his complete lack of a reaction. He just skated back to the bench.

Reminded me of Thurman scoring a touchdown and tossing the ball to the ref with zero celebration. Very business-like.

Another day, another dollar.

G: Miller and glad to see Gerbe with a goal.

B: Painful game to watch (only saw 2nd and 3rd after work).

U: 1-2-2 and watching Panthers cycle in our end almost continuously.

So if Rolston continues to rotate the scratch to those deserving, does Stafford get the next trip to the pressbox and will that spell the end of his lettered days here in Buffalo?

Personally, I hope so. Not the time and place to dive deeply into it, but yea, Stafford having a career on another team would fine with me. Just removing the A, and a visit to the pressbox isn't good enough. Time will tell.

I'd sit Regehr and Stafford. Pardy too. Three penalties, two inane. Regehr is just done, the effort is there.

Who gets the A if they take it?

I say Ehrhoff.

Well Gerbe seemed like the candidate until today.

Could be either Stafford, Grigorenko (and the HF fury that would ensue), or Scott. My bets are on the last two.

Or it is entire plausible that he sits Foligno out for another game.

Florida tied it so we still have a top 3 pick at the moment
I liked watching Florida's attack in the second half of the game. Entertaining
Theodore came in strong after the switch
Vanek got a little more physical at the end of the game. Nothing crazy, but I at least liked the him laying the body a little

B:
Giving up a goal in the final minutes...again (I'd be more mad if we actually had a decent team, but I'm alright with it now seeing as I just want to tank the year)
Our defense still sucks. We're just lucky to have Miller to cover a lot of faults

U:
Stafford. I just want him gone at this point
Grigorenko getting 5 minutes. What's the point. I understand the learning and the practice, but there's no point to play him if he's not getting around 10 minutes a game. A waste. On contrast Huberdeau played 21. Not saying that we need/should do that with Grigo or that he's close to being ready for that, but he should at least be getting more than John Scott ice time.

Stafford is awful. Strap the A off his chest, bench him or trade him, idc anymore. No excuses for his piss poor point production this year. None.

2 of the penalities on Pardy were a joke. They should of never been called... I didn't see the 3rd.

Eh...the first two calls I could see maybe one of them not being called. The third was an egregious penalty...retaliation for a slash that itself was a retaliation for him pushing around the other dude. It could have been called spearing actually...he's lucky it was only 2 minutes.

Him or Sekera.

G: Gerbe getting on the scoresheet.
Everything about the shootout.

B:

Still leaving some goals/points/chances out there. Gotta finish the two on ones.
Scott Clemmensen
Officiating - I'm beginning to think we just can't catch a break w/ the stripes man.

U:
Rob Ray - about put a hex on the whole damn thing. Probably needs to resume judging wing contests w/ that really hot chick from Food Wars on the Travel Channel.

Giving up a goal near the end of regulation is bad, but it wasn't like they played like garbage at the end of the game. If you're letting the other team win clean faceoffs and they just drew up a play, they're going to score often enough in those situations. I should look at the play again and see if anyone really screwed up, but from memory I'm willing to pin the vast majority of the blame on the faceoff man (Hodgson) losing it clean. Not sure why Rolston didn't put out there in that key situation on the draw.

The one on Harboneau or however you spell it? ... That happens every time the puck is on the boards.... and it wasnt even that hard. That was one of the ones I thought was a joke...along with the hooking one where he lifted the guys stick perfectly.

Not sure what the other one was.
