JT is making way too much to be playing anywhere but outside the top 6. IMO if AM doesn't commit to an extension by mid July, you move him. Nylander (aka as Pillows in my house), has to go. He is way too soft and doesn't make enough of an impact away form the puck. Marner is probably not going to be traded at this point. It feels bad right now, but tearing things down to the studs shouldn't be the first option. Trading any of these players will return less than their value IMO.
Matthews, Marner, and Nylander all have nmc's kicking in July 1st. That massively complicated things.

Marner has by far the biggest trade value. He has 2 more years left and in real money is owed 8 million dollars. 4 mil a year for a 100 point player. Lots of teams care more about real money than cap hits.

I don't want dubas anywhere near the Leafs. he is an entitled loser who has never had to work for anything in his life. he is the kardishian of hockey.

As much as I love Spezza I think he has emotional investment in matthews and marner since he played with them so I would be very skeptical of appointing spezza as a gm unless he guarantees that emotional attachments would have nothing to do with hockey decisions

I just want someone to corner shanahan and ask him what bs did dubas sell him for shanny to appoint him as a gm and completely bendover and change his hockey philosophy compared to the one he played.
Dubie is very entitled no doubt .. got his start from his uncle in da Soo without playing da game .. that was a family job .. and he never even won in da O either .. but got da Marlies gig .. won there 1 year and Shanny have him da leaf gig .. he got it da soft way

shanny has always been off da wall in his thinking from time of being a kid .. but he was not a bright kid but he could shoot, skate and he could fight with da best .. from bantam reps straight to da knights and then knights captain .. and to nhl right away with devils .. he earned it da hard way

dubie from what i am told is a power point wizard and a spreadsheet king .. he makes guys like shanny and larry's head spin with beautiful presentations .. i think he laid out a plan which he backed up with his analytics and it all looked beautiful .. da issue is he used wrong input variables in his model .. he based almost everything purely on skill which is part of game and required but skill alone is not enough .. you need character guys .. you need SPEED ... you need SIZE .. you need guys who play right side of puck .. and you need da right MIX of guys who play different positions .. and you need da right guys as da core from all parts of a team not just forwards who are least valuable come playoffs .. this team needs a complete retool with right hockey guy in charge

Time will tell, but Sandin kind of reminds me of Oilers Bouchard.

Sandin’s the next Erik Gustafsson. That guy’s inexplicable level of entitlement in the contract negotiations at such a young age was such a red flag for me. How a guy who did nothing in the league could try to pull a hard line stance against an organization is beyond me.

Until last night, I would have preferred Engvall over Lafferty in our line up.

Also, the fact that this organization had to trade a 22 year old Sandin to keep a 39 year old Giordiano and 33 year old Holl means it is not serious about winning.

I'd be pretty entitled as well if Holl and Giordiano were above me in the pecking order. Things aren't always as they appear, see the Marco Rojo at Man Utd after the Harry Maguire signing.

I’d be in Sandin’s corner if I didn’t think he was small, slow and weak out there and eaten up alive on the blueline counter rush and useless below his own hashmarks. Gio and Holl suck for other reasons but Sandin’s a finger painter too.

Dubas had more Fath in the core than even the players themselves had. The worst stretch of playoff failure in playoff history really. .Early on I looked at these pllayers and stated on here. "I hope they don't become like the Sharks or Oilers of old when Hall was there..talent but little playoff success"

i proposed on here two years ago that I would have offered Petrioangelo a contract, even if it meant trading Marner to make cap space. Trade Reilly as he is replaced with a deep minute,.legit #1

At this point the team failures are so ingrained that there aren't any options but big trades.

Dubas did a hell of a job at the deadline. The Core once again are letting him down in a good matchup for the Leafs. Keep ROR, Schenn, Acciari, McCabe will make a difference for a couple of years. Change the core.

MLSE is a corporation where image matters. They want nice, marketable, wholesome guys. Ok,, I get it. Sometimes nice guys finish last in a city that desperately needs a Cup by any means necessary...

Marner for sure for the reasons you've listed, but also because there are also teams who's priority isn't winning the cup, they just want to sell more tickets during the regular season. Marner can help them do that, no doubt about it. He's so talented, fun to watch, he always crushes it during the regular season and I said it two years ago after the MTL disaster, there are teams like that who don't even care if Marner sucks in the playoffs so for those teams, Marner has more value than he does to us.

How much are you willing to wait for this core to actually preform in the playoffs. After this many seasons this is what they are. They aren't playoff performers and they have never shown they can carry the team like Oilers top 2 are doing and like Jack Hughes did yesterday for the Devils.
Yup. Wait any longer for success and the core will be well out of their prime. We needed to make significant changes after the Montreal collapse let alone now.

What exactly does Chicago have that Leafs would want for Matthews?
lottery pick projected top 3(especially if you could get Fantilli or Bedard), Raddysh,4 2nd round picks,Reichel. Just the things I can think of at the top of my head. I would only do that trhough if Bedard or Fantilli are in play because Chicago would move that pick. I don't see that happening though.

We should have made moves last yr

I thought we should have made moves last year.

Unloading Tavares should have been a top priority for AT LEAST the last two years. To have an 11 million player who needs to play sheltered minutes and gets eaten alive 5-on-5 and expect to do anything while struggling to fill out a D-core and goaltending is ludicrous. If we unloaded him and kept Hyman we'd have a better player AND more cap space to pursue a quality D-man.
