OT: The Avalounge (mod warning - No Politics)

I vastly prefer iPhones... had to use Android for work (Pixels) at one point and just found Android annoying and clunky. Some nice features that Apple doesn't have, but the drawbacks we're too much for me to switch on my personal phone.

I got the 14 Pro a few months back and it is just a phenomenal phone with one big issue, the camera bump. I despise that design and I constantly feel I'm going to break a lens. So I put a glass protector over them (which does hurt picture quality) and I crack those within a month without fail. I'm not even hard on phones... only broke 2 screens in my whole smart phone life.

Not sure what it is about Iphones but I really enjoy it. But than again I don’t need anything special for my but phone and always buy 2-4 phones behind what’s current.
There’s still some things I miss about Android. The customization, much larger catalog of apps, and especially the notification system, it blows Apple outta the water in that department. Oh and the photo app still sucks ass on Apple.

But I like how streamlined and synced everything is from my MacBook & IPhone. That’s the biggest thing really.

Sounds like apple had the opposite effect on me than other posters in here. I had Apple at first, but hated all the restrictions they put on their devices. When I went to Android it felt 100% better. Being able to customize and install app not on the Apple marketplace is great. I know you can jailbreak iPhones and do that, but is rather not risk voiding the warranty on a 800-1200 piece of hardware. Then there was the whole proprietary hardware crap. Everyone else was using USB, A, B or C on their devices, but of course apple had to make their own. Also God forbid you need to repair an internal component on the damn thing. They'd rather you just buy a new one. The EU laws seem to be forcing them to fix some of that, but I'm rather happy with my Android and don't plan on going back anytime soon.

Android user here. I have a MacBook pro for work, but no other apple products. I've tried to use my fiancee's iphone from time to time and just found it completely unintuitive. Probably because I'm used to the Google and android ecosystems, but still it was jarring as f*** and I hated every nanosecond I spent with it.

I have used iPhones, Blackberrys and now a Samsung phone.

I will never rate anything over a Blackberry solely because of the physical keyboard. It is unmatched.

If Unihertz can ever make a phone that is up to standards connectivity, battery and performance wise I will gladly pony up whatever money they ask for. Unfortunately their Titan line of phones are garbage.

I loved my Blackberry bold back in the day. That thing was amazing. The little trackpad they had and bbm. 😂

Switched over to iPhone shortly afterwards and haven’t moved away from it since. It gets the job done for me and I much prefer it to the Galaxy I have to use for work.

My dad worked for Google around the time when smartphones were becoming essential, so I started with an Android and never looked back. Apple just seems grossly overpriced to me; you're paying hundreds extra for the Apple logo on the back, not any kind of essential quality it has.

I have a Motorola phone right now and I love it, best brand on the market IMO. I had a Pixel for a while, and my dad swears by them, but mine was buggy and had shit battery life, so I'm probably never going back unless they offer a killer promotion at Verizon.

I recently had reason to buy an actual smartphone for the first time. One of those smaller model iphones seemed ideal since I don't need/want a giant screen, but they cost ~30% more compared to equivalent Android phones. Get f***ed.

Looking for a new golf stand bag. When I picked back up the game a couple years ago, I got a cheap one off Amazon and today it is showing why it was cheap. The collar/divider material has a couple holes and the plastic is exposed. The stand has always been kinda crap, but seems worse over the last 5-6 months. Adding to that, when carrying a full 14 clubs it can snag a bit.

So I’m really looking for a durable bag (especially the divider area) that can carry 14 clubs without too much snagging and has a good stand. Keep looking around to all the options and either they are super expensive (Vessel), have reviews of snagging, or use the same material my old one did around the collar.

I’ve been looking at the Vessel VLX, MNML V2, Sun Mountain 3.5, and Ping Hoofer. Each of these have some sort of drawback… anybody here have experience within those or others I should look at?

Moto Razr is where it's at
Been seriously looking at them again. Problem is in the US, you can only get a 2020 version of the smartphone. The 2022 was released internationally but not in the states.

Been seriously nostalgic for my OG razr flip. Miss how it felt when you hung up on a call by snapping it shut. It had such a satisfying feel and weight to it.

That was just like me. The only reason I even went to an iPhone was the fact that my Pixel completely died for no reason, and needed a phone ASAP. If it wasn't for that I'd have never considered moving over to Apple.

Hated everything about it for at least 2 weeks  but now I really like it. Although if they release an Android phone that's the size of the iPhone Mini and it has solid battery life.. might jump ship back to the 'Droid.

Has there ever been any kind of HF Avs meetup? Like where Colorado based users all get together at a bar to watch a game?

I had a dream last night we had Patrick Roy back in goals and he was coming out and playing every puck as soon as it reached the circles

He slid down and played a pass with one of his knees and you just heard McNab howling with laughter on the commentary

People keep telling me about dreams about hockey, work, and things they value, and every time I have a dream I get violently murdered.

I had a dream last night I had moved to America and never got capped for the Scottish national team despite being an extremely good centre back. I played a game for the US (partnering the Colorado Rapids' own Danny Wilson in the heart of the defence) against Scotland while wearing a jersey that was like out last Stadium Series offering, only the blue was only on the front and underneath the A was a sponsor which was an eagle's head in profile with MONTGOMERY under it.

You should have better dreams imo

I forget which one of you said you liked Frightened Rabbit

Happy new year x

Wasn't me that mentioned them, but I've been a fan of theirs since John Buccigross turned me on to them back when he used to write blogs about hockey, music and Shjon Podein for ESPN.

Once, probably ten or so years ago I had a dream that I played backup for the Tampa Bay Lightning. I think I played in a game and did kind of okay. Other than that it's either running and hiding from killing sprees, or hiding from the police after I supposedly commit some ridiculous crime that makes no sense.

I'm sure I don't have to read into it.

I envy those that dream. Sleep is nothing more than blackness for me. I also wake up more tired than when I went to bed.

God getting old sucks.
