They got a good discography, but Colours I, Colours II, and Alaska are definitely their highlight albums if you were to listen to anything first. I actually think Colours II could be the best album they've made, but that's my personal opinion.

I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts on Haken and Shadow Gallery. I listened to Cockroach King by Haken and a random song from Shadow Gallery and both were extremely good. Are they as bands worth chequing out by any chance or is there an album I should give a try first from their discography? I ask because I don't really have that much free time anymore to spend hours listening to full bands discs..
Haken I'm not really a fan of, but a lot of people I know swear by them being one of the premier prog metal bands of the modern era. I've heard that their album "The Mountain" is supposed to be their best work, so maybe start with that one. You may like them a lot, they're just a little too sterile for me, I like my prog with some emotional weight rather than just sounding like a "look what funny time signatures we can play in" showcase.

Now Shadow Gallery is good, they're a little up and down but the album "Tyranny" and its sequel album, "Room V" are excellent prog metal concept albums, I'd start with those for sure. If you like those, move on to "Digital Ghosts".

On the metal albums… may not really be metal, but i supremely enjoyed Chat Pile’s God’s Country this year. In a near opposite realm… Peach Pit hit my radar late 21 and was probably my most played music of 22.

Thanks for all of that, I will definitely use your recommendation! I didn't realise it but I actually listened to some more Haken songs from that "The Mountain" album that my bro played for me in the past. Supposedly he's a huge fan of them and I liked all the ones I've heard from that album, but you are right...they are craze time-signature enthusiasts. It gets a bit much at times, but I love Djent and they also incorporate some great jazz sections which is probably the only genre I have spent a lot of musical time in lately. As for Shadow Gallery, I heard one song but never got the name of it. However, based on that song, they have a ridiculously good singer.

What are your thoughts on Magic Pie? I would guess you would know them since you are a band guru, but they are more of an obscure prog band from I think Norway or Denmark. If you haven't heard them, I highly recommend listening to "Motions of Desire." The rest of their discography is okay, but that album is an excellent blend of golden age 70s prog sound with a great modern touch.

Magic Pie is actually a new one for me. I know of a prog band called Max Pie from Belgium, they're pretty good, but not Magic Pie.

I have come to be a little out of touch with the prog metal scene in the last few years. I still follow the bands I've liked in the past like Seventh Wonder and Dream Theater, but I don't actively seek out too many new prog acts. The ones I find, like Lastera, tend to be either power/prog hybrids and/or just something that randomly falls into my lap. I've been meaning to change that, I just haven't had the time. The prog scene has moved away from my tastes in the last 10 years, so a lot of what I do find isn't to my liking anyway. I'm picky when it comes to prog, so if it doesn't blow me away on first listen I usually pass it by.

The Stabbing Westward album is really good, on the level of Darkest Days easily. It was a long wait to get to the release of the album but the end result was fantastic, in the end I couldn't put more than five releases ahead of it.
Listened to this and it's good. It's odd, they're like "Hey guys, we made another album now, and it's 2002, by the way" and you're listening to it like "Yeah, I guess it kind of is, probably."

I’m still here baffled that nobody answered my golf bag question. None of the golf losers (I include myself in that), have an opinion? Wanna have a new bag ready upon my return to the states.

Find one on the Nike website and then get back to me so we can do an exchange because I received a $150 Nike gift card that I can't use since I'm in Canada. Hope that helps you out. Thanks.

Or if you need to buy anything else from there.

I golf but have no input on bags and stuff unfortunately.

I've been searching for a new golf bag for the last year. I have $150 to a country club pro shop for winning a tournament and I think that will still leave me with $100 out of pocket for a good quality carry bag. Ridiculous for a poor teacher.

I'm no help on golf either, I switched to disc golf a few years ago. Cheaper and more fun to me.
I do love a good round of disc golf

Not even the Jordan 1 Low golf shoes? They’re both comfy and look great.
Nike golf shoes are the legit worst. Sketchers or footjoy all the way.

My lone concern with the ping is hearing issues of clubs tangling. I find that utterly annoying on course.

Sounds like what you really need is a full time caddie.

They actually make those now? Probaly wouldn't help me though, I know where the balls are. I just don't feel like swimming in the ocean to get them back.
Yeah… and apparently they are terrible to hit, but at least you don’t lose them!

This is easy to say, harder in practice (and money)… but losing a ton of balls means go practice and find the most forgiving clubs you can. Who gives a shit if your 9 iron looks like a hybrid if you’re just having fun?!
