I agree a lot of men we consider to be barons of industry, whether their name is Rockefeller, Carnegie, Jobs, were complete and total assholes. But where I disagree is ranking Musk among them. If anything Musk's Twitter fiasco has not only shown that the Emperor Has No Clothes, but that he's a deeply disturbed individual from a shaky background who's decided to fully embrace and surround himself with the very worst of humanity because they're the ones who give him the praise he so desperately craves. The short seller mythos is really what you’re getting at and it really doesn’t hold water. Been through 12 years of it and it is the same story (that is mostly misinformation and half truths). He’s a flawed person, but if you’re looking at successful businessmen, you’re talking about a lot of flawed people. Even Steve Jobs was a complete shithead.
I don’t think a requirement for being good at business and running a company is being a good person. I’d argue, frequently, being a good person is actually a hindrance.
Hey, believe what you want… I can say from many years of investing in Musk companies, the headlines and things people latch onto are the very same, half truth to outright lies, that have followed him for 5-10++ years. The short selling mythos of Tesla and Elon being a ‘fraud’ has just gone mainstream.I agree a lot of men we consider to be barons of industry, whether their name is Rockefeller, Carnegie, Jobs, were complete and total assholes. He's not just a "flawed person," he's a terrible person. But hey, Rockefeller was a slimebucket too...difference is that Rockefeller was at least good at business.
And no, I wasn't even referring to the "short seller mythos."
About the only thing I give him credit for that's a net positive is convincing the big automakers that there was an actual, viable market for EVs, but I feel like that's analogous to saying Bill Gates revolutionized computing in America.
Yeah, but until the infrastructure (charging on the road when taking trips) and environment challenges (sub-arctic tundra conditions) are completely overcome, the true EV technology will have to continue to be a dream for me.This is fair.
One point… EVs are unlikely to be super ecological in very cold weather areas. It is possible (Norway and Iceland with a ton of renewable, hydro and geothermal energy), but places like the middle of Alaska are going to be difficult given the infrastructure. Lithium ion technology is a generation or two away from dealing with consistently cold temps well (basically anything consistent below 0F is hard but below 10-15f isn’t great. Consistently a key word). Places like where I’m at that are moderately cold (winter days between 10 and 30f with 25-30 being common), but also have super cheap energy (10-11 cents kWh)… it changes the whole equation. It isn’t everywhere, but 80-90%.
There have been many studies… a few released in the past few weeks… that EVs payoff their battery production early, even at the national average grid. 50-60k mi is in the higher end of the equation. Even if you don’t buy a Tesla, EVs are worth it and a good thing overall. Not a perfect solution, but a good one given how we depend on cars in today’s society. The sooner we get most people to communing on EVs, the better. Doesn’t need to be all, just most. Add to that solar, nuclear, wind and geothermal steps that are being taken, and we can cut our energy and CO2 output usage way down while not going backwards.

That was tucked comfortable away in a forgotten box that also contained my memory of when Claude LeMieux played out his stint there as well. Why is the site now suggesting random thread links from 2013, by the way? Yeah, oh, Scott Gomez signed with the Sharks?
Learn to use your S22 properly instead. In a couple of months you'll be thankful.I've had a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra for almost a month now and I hate every second of using it.
I had been using Blackberry phones for over a decade but they finally stopped connecting to a mobile network last month. God I wish some company out there would create a 5G capable physical keyboard QWERTY phone that resembles the Blackberry Key2.
Nothing about learning it properly. It's the physical keyboard that is missed. Nothing the S22 has will ever be able to make up for that loss.Learn to use your S22 properly instead. In a couple of months you'll be thankful.

It won’t be missed soon enough, that’s what I’m saying.Nothing about learning it properly. It's the physical keyboard that is missed. Nothing the S22 has will ever be able to make up for that loss.
Not sure what it is about Iphones but I really enjoy it. But than again I don’t need anything special for my but phone and always buy 2-4 phones behind what’s current. When I went from Android to Apple I HATED it. Then a month later it was okay, and now I love my IPhone. Humans suck at dealing with change.
