Wait til you start listening to chillhop lofi beats to relax and study too, when you're not relaxing or studying. That's when you know you're cool.

Where’d you go in Mexico, BTW? Because of the nature of my job and how cold it gets in this area during the winter I’m going to be heading someplace warm or at least in the Southern Hemisphere during the winter for the next couple of years.

I was thinking about going to Oaxaca, or at least the beaches in that area. I’ve read/heard good things.
Drove from CO to Los Barriles down in Baja. Baja is so rad. Surfing, beaching, beautiful landscapes and fantastic weather. It was a hell of an adventure to drive too, we camped on beautiful beaches and saw some crazy places.

I really want to check out Oaxaca and other parts of mainland Mexico in the future but Baja has my heart right now.

It's alright. That riff is OK but it's not good enough to ride for the entire song like that.

I'll probably check the album out when it's released but my expectations are low.
What new stuff are you listening to?

1. I do not watch Arizona games.
2. Avs and Arizona have played the least games in the league.
3. Statistically they probably will play eachother a lot until they catch up in GP.
4. I will take a break from watching Avs games until they have caught up in GP to lessen the chance of watching Arizona games.

Oh man, I've listened to more new music this year than ever before. I think there are 120 or so albums contending for my top 50 list, that's a record. Still waiting on a few more to be released in December before I finalize the list, too. There's just so much out there, if I didn't listen to music for 6-8 hours a day at work I wouldn't be able to keep up with the torrent of new releases every week.

As usual, it's a lot of power metal this year. Probably more than usual in my top 50, it's light on death and thrash this year. My album of the year is Fellowship's "The Saberlight Chronicles". Just magical stuff, pure, uplifting joy all around. "Pirates" by Visions of Atlantis is just behind it.

If there's interest, I can post the full list when it's ready again, probably in the last week of the year.

Wait until you hear about this band Killswitch Engage!

(I can’t stand either)
Not my type of music either. Metallica and Tool are about as “hard” as I can get.

I did get exposed to some band called Haggard(?) or something on here a couple of years ago who weren’t too bad. I just hate the screaming, some of the riffs are ok.

To each their own, though.

The brewery in Boston I was thinking about was Trillium, fwiw. I’ve had some pretty good beers from them.

Yeah I’ve had friends that have gone down there. Seems like a good time

So Elden Ring beat out God of War Ragnarok for best game at the Game awards last night. I completely agree with that decision. GOWR was fun, but I really feel like it dropped the ball at the end of the story. A lot of Norse gods were also left on the shelf and could have been awesome opponents for Kratos and/or Atreus. I also find it weird that Sif did absolutely nothing, but sit there and complain for the whole game. It did win best narrative though, so what the f*** do I know? I guess...

Elden Ring on the other hand was just endless challenge and adventure. The narrative was only there if you wanted it and not a driving factor. That game consumed me like no other has done since I was a teenager.

The way I put it to a buddy...Ragnarok may have been a masterpiece, but Elden Ring was once-in-a-generation. They'll be talking about it years from now like people still do with Skyrim and it'll be influencing countless games in the same way, too. A very well-deserved GotY win.

Elden Ring is a great first playthrough. The sense of discovery is second to none.

When I played NG+ the flaws started to show, from the repetitive dungeons to the bosses aren't that fun to fight because of the general design. Often they have there flashy long combos you just have to wait out before getting a hit in. It looks great but it's not very engaging as a player. It also seems like the boss fights were designed with summons in mind, which makes it hard to balance the game.

I need to replay Elden Ring… been months since I was playing. Might be fresh again. But Witcher 3 update takes precedent.
