Is Curb Your Enthusiasm supposed to be funny?

I've started watching Season 1 and laboured through 4 episodes and I'm not sure I can continue without a very strong signal that it gets really better.

If you don’t think it’s very funny after a few episodes you probably won’t ever. Larry David’s humor is kind of a unique brand. I think it’s hilarious but I could see how others don’t like it.

Absolutely LOVED Curb, haven't seen it in a long time though. That kind of humor isn't for everyone, but it clicks for me. The episode where he accidentally injures Shaq during a Lakers game absolutely killed me.

I think season 1 of Curb is the worst season and took about half to really get going... but if you don't enjoy it, you're not going to like the next ~100 episodes.

Are there new characters introduced later? I feel his universe is small, him, his wife, his agent, a friend actor... It's also quite slow moving in general.

Does anyone think it's slap your knees hilarious?

Oh man, I've listened to more new music this year than ever before. I think there are 120 or so albums contending for my top 50 list, that's a record. Still waiting on a few more to be released in December before I finalize the list, too. There's just so much out there, if I didn't listen to music for 6-8 hours a day at work I wouldn't be able to keep up with the torrent of new releases every week.

As usual, it's a lot of power metal this year. Probably more than usual in my top 50, it's light on death and thrash this year. My album of the year is Fellowship's "The Saberlight Chronicles". Just magical stuff, pure, uplifting joy all around. "Pirates" by Visions of Atlantis is just behind it.

If there's interest, I can post the full list when it's ready again, probably in the last week of the year.

Never heard of either band, gave them both a listen during my morning workouts. I liked them both. I see you're in a symphonic metal mood these days.

I thought Fellowship sounded a bit like Lost Horizon, and I got a Nightwish vibe with the second band (I like both of those other bands also). What a voice on that vocalist in Visions of Atlantis!

If I had to choose, I'd take the Atlantis band. Thought the riffs/rhythm guitars sounded better. Not sure if that's just production though.

Thank you for the heads' up!

Other characters get introduced, and it really isn't show with a meaning or purpose... just about the randomness of life and the absurdity of it all. There are many episodes that do nearly nothing for any story arc, they just kinda happen.

IMO Some of the funniest moments on TV are from Curb.

Curb your Enthusiasm is a show about a man who refuses to adhere to the small social rules that makes social interaction possible. If you don't enjoy him making an ass out of himself (and meanwhile being kinda right) it's probably not a show for you.

There are some good characters in the show later on (Leon Black) but if you don't enjoy the first season, you are never going to love it.

Still need to play through Elden Ring and Witcher 3 ( I know...). Would love to play GoWR (and past games) and Last of Us, but alas, I'm an xbox guy. Any other ways of playing those franchises without actually getting a Playstation? Would the Valve Steam work with those for instance? Anyone have any info on that system?

Also, anyone played the new WoW expansion? Heard it's actually the best since Wrath. I've been playing a bit of Classic...but considering getting it.

This legendary clip just popped up in my suggestions and I thought it might spark some nostalgic feelings in here

I watch that every year or so. Never fails to make me laugh. Love it

First season is kinda rough, but it's one of the most quotable shows on TV. I think part of the issue I had with the earlier seasons is the weird framerate they used for the cameras so the production seems really bad. You'll like it if you enjoy Always Sunny or Seinfeld.

Glad you liked them! I love sharing metal with other people.

Yeah, symphonic metal is one of my favorite genres right now. It's going through a real creative explosion right now that's producing a barrage of quality and variety. I'd compare it to the early 2000s era of power metal that most people consider the genre's golden age. My tastes are leaning more and more towards that as I get older, it seems. Power metal still dominates my playlists, but even there I like the more symphonic style of it.

Many of the Sony games are heading to PC now... so if you have a decent gaming rig, you can get those games.

Prioritize Witcher 3 though... I think when you look at the best games of last generation, it is debatably the best. Right up there with Breath of the Wild (my personal fav), God of War, RDR2, and MGS5. Elden Ring is a fantastic game, but is more the Bloodborne of this generation. Great game and incredibly fun (if you fit the demographic that enjoys those games), but isn't as overarching of story or as great and after beating it... is there much to come back to?

I have started both...just didn't go far enough to really get into it. And unfortunately, I do not have a great gaming computer. Would probably prefer to play on console anyways.

Frankly, you're slacking of late.
I stopped posting as much when avatars became small and I didn't have to post to change it. Since they're big now I'm changing every 1000 posts again and I've been trying to post more.
