You sir, are on point. Pliny the Elder is an awesome IPA. I haven't met anyone outside of California who knows about the Russian River Brewery.

Have you tried Pliny the Younger? If you like lots of hops, that's one to try. Go slowly though.

If you like beer and nobody around you knows of Russian River you need new friends!

Their sours like Supplication are incredible.

Unknowingly, I went out there in March when they were having the release of Younger. Pure coincidence, but had a few on draft and got some bottles to go. Needless to say, I got pretty trashed the day I had it on draft.

LOL, I bet you did. :D PtY is like a right cross to the side of the jaw.

Victory Brewing (Philadelphia, I believe), used to have an IPA called Hop Wallop. That thing was the closest I've ever had to Younger. I think they discontinued it though.

Stop buying trash wine. And especially, I don't know how commonly people buy California wines, but you need to not do that.

No argument on the price.

Yeah. This is very true. And unfortunately, in the states, the California wines work very hard at distribution. You'll often see a good import is no longer available because it's replaced by a California wine. But a good rule of thumb, go with wines from countries best known for that type of wine (a grigio from Italy for example).

Picked up some Modelo Noche Especial on my way back from Mexico last week. Really curious to try it. Don't think you can get it in the states on a quick google search.

IIRC the guy who started the Modelo brewery was German. And I believe Negra Modelo is actually a form of Vienna Lager. Not sure what the rest of the beers are, though.

I used to put a lime in some Negra Modelos and go to town. I think the guy who started the company is probably rolling over in his grave thinking about people putting a lime in his Vienna Lager, though

It is a Vienna Lager, and with a lime it is perfection.

Where’d you go in Mexico, BTW? Because of the nature of my job and how cold it gets in this area during the winter I’m going to be heading someplace warm or at least in the Southern Hemisphere during the winter for the next couple of years.

I was thinking about going to Oaxaca, or at least the beaches in that area. I’ve read/heard good things.
