I wouldn't say cheering for bad guys is wrong whatsoever, I loved Samuel L. Jackson in Kingsman, but strange to want to cheer for a bad guy called Warmonger. The movie was insanely recruited thought, absolutely loved every single actor and actress in it.

@S E P H ReinXeed is awesome, very underrated band. Interestingly, their guitarist/singer is in Sabaton at the moment playing guitar.

There's lots of other great Swedish power metal too. Nocturnal Rites, Dream Evil, Tad Morose, Persuader, Bloodbound, Hammerfall, Wolf, Falconer, Dragonland... Probably more I can't remember right now. Power Metal has become my primary passion over the last 8-10 years, just so much fun. I'm a giant dork so it's right in my wheelhouse.
Man you would be best friends with my bro, he loves all those bands. Out of that list Dragonland is my favourite.

I'm more of a Djent dude myself, Animals as Leaders, Periphery, and Voyager are some of my favourite. Voyager's Ghost Mile was an amazing album and The Fragile Serene is a bloody amazing song. Nothing beats Riverside, they're easily my favourite band in the world with Luna Sea following in 2nd and probably Dream Theatre in 3rd. I've sort of fallen out of DT lately since Portnoy left, I mean their self-titled album was really good and The Astonishing had good moments in it. But I also think they lost some magic in the songwriting process without him and it sucks in what happened during that whole saga. He wanted to take a break from DT because he was having a lot of fun in A7X, the rest of the members didn't want to, they all got in arguments, and he eventually left DT for A7X who didn't want him either. So he was bandless in the end and it got worst since the album that Dream Theatre released, A Dramatic Turn of Events is easily the worst album they have ever produced.

I honestly had no idea what his name was. Had to IMDB it lol. He's a badass that wanted equality for all. Right intentions poor execution.

I refuse to watch superhero movies because comic books and superheroes are the stupidest shit in the world BUT Michael B. Jordan is a beast!

Ok, if going really old-school, deep and heavy in your souls, searching for the roots of Swedish death metal... I suspect you already heard of them, if not.. well, then it's time... they are a part of the music history after all. ;-)

Personally I can't stand "real" black metal (satanic ridiculous stuff) but I love some choosen death metal songs, the heaviness.

It's a requirement turning up the volume otherwise the heavy groovy feeling is lost. ;-)

Entombed - Sinners Bleed (from their second album Clandestine from 1991)

or a bit softer for beginners, it's really groovy as well... LG Petrov (singer) at his peak in this one.
Entombed - Wolverine Blues

I disagree with the giveaways to Amazon, but I would be pretty stoked to have them in Denver, as it would be a huge step forward in turning the Denver area into a big tech market.

I have some sources telling me that Amazon has been way more interested in Denver than the city was expecting.

Looks like I'll have two solo days (or really, one full day, a night, and a travel morning) in San Diego. I've got a ton of breweries to hit up, and figured I might go to a ball game as well. Not sure what else.

Tell your bro that I got to see Dragonland live twice in 3 days at ProgPower a few years back if you want him to seethe with jealousy. :D Seen most of those bands live, actually, except for Persuader and Reinxeed. Bloodbound will be at ProgPower this year.

Voyager is awesome, one of the best live bands I've ever seen. Fun people to party with too. And I agree on Dream Theater. They have about 50/50 awesome, classic albums and total stinkers, and they definitely miss Portnoy now. I don't feel too bad for him though. It sucks how he left DT but he has a ton of projects going now. I don't blame him for wanting to stretch his legs creatively after 20 years doing the same thing.

My big new prog crush is Ostura, front runner for album of the year already, this thing is amazing.

Edit: Also, if you like Djent, you need this in your life.
