There's also a GAP on Robson St. Are we concerned about controlling this, too? How many other random GAPs should we pretend coaches might be talking about? I'm particularly concerned about the GAP in Kassian's teeth. Who is controlling that dental breakdown?

Still doesn't make it 'gap control' no matter how many times you explain this basic concept to every single person on these boards that understands it perfectly fine.

GAP control?

Now this is making sense.

We are in total agreement on GAP control. Too many people think it's the gap between the opposing teams' players. It's refreshing to read someone who understands it's the GAP between back-checking forwards and collapsing D. However, D (who don't like to get pounded on dump-ins) back up too quickly to avoid the pounding. Therefore, creating the GAP, no matter how hard their forwards try to back-check. The current Canuck's D has this issue, except Tanev. Edler is the worst of the offenders.
Not true.

With a tight gap (between our D and the attacking forwards) the D will still get punished on a dump. D have to get punished on dumps in this system to make plays.

I have seen Perry play, and there's no doubt in my mind he's a fantastic player. All I am saying is that gutting depth always seems to kill teams in the end (ie. Rangers).

And I still don't think Kassian is ready for top 6 minutes yet, let alone the first line. Didn't intend to "make you laugh."
It's basically two first lines. No need to put #'s on it.
Yeah. But what do you call the gap between your own defense and own forwards then? Not a native English speaker but I'm pretty I've seen that called gap aswell.

Saw your edit and yeah I agree that when coach calls out d's gap control it usually means that. That being said, it's easy to blame defensemen when the unit as a whole is not working together. If the unit has loose gaps between defensemen and forwards, it's usually the forwards fault (while it's usually the defensemen who end up looking bad).
mrmyheadhurts has it right below
Poster Alflives is confusing gap control with puck support.
Couldn't have said it better.

Ahh I wish ROR would have signed our offer sheet instead of Calgary's. He would have been the perfect addition and well worth the 1st and 3rd round pick. I wouldn't baulk at the $5M AAV, even if he's probably not worth that yet.

I would agree with you if his next QO wouldn't have to be 6.5 million. Meaning either we make him a 6.5 million dollar offer or he could decline anything under that and become a UFA. Man how funny would it be if he did that to the Flames

Ideally he would be signed to a long term deal instead of having to put in a QO.

Depends what it would take to acquire him. I'd probably rather spend the assets on another center.

After.

Ah I see. Then I agree with your post. Question here if say Vancouver signed RoR to a one year deal, would they be able to sign him to another contract right away? Or would they have to wait a certain time.

I still wouldn't do that trade. Bozak is overrated and a UFA at the end of the year, and I really don't think Kadri would have this kind of success in our lineup.

I honestly wouldn't do that trade either. But I would seriously consider the Islanders one. Just for question sake what would you want for Luongo?

A first round pick is a must, and either an established top 6 forward or a top prospect. Not a B prospect, but a top prospect. Kyle Okposo is a nice piece but he's just attractive to some people here because he's shiny. For those who see the value in David Booth they would see the value in Okposo. Right now Okposo is really just another tweener on our team, although he's still young, and has potential.
