I said the exact same thing yesterday...

It's one thing to be wrong about Kadri before he had proven anything at the NHL level. It's another thing to stand by the assertion he's of little value to us when he's a high skillevel centreman that is producing like a 1st liner and Kesler can't play 1 regular season game without re-injuring himself.

20 games doesn't make a player. I can say that I'm one who didn't want Kadri. I'm still one who doesn't want Kadri, but I can admit that his production is impressive.

Wanted Kadri. Didn't want Bozak. Facilitated a Luongo, Raymond for Kadri, Frattin, Finn deal that was accepted by quite a few Leafs fans the week before the season started. Would have loved to see it actually gone through.

Wouldn't trade Luongo for anything offered by Leafs fans then, even now in retrospect.

Schneider on the other hand...Well let's just say in a mock draft/GM game I traded him for JVR, Kadri, and Jesse Blacker. :yo:

Just watched the leaf highlights.

2 of Kadri's goals were On awful goaltending.

They still count and he's definitely made strides to prove me wrong about him.

Not ready to crown him anything yet. definitely surprised by his even strength production (he couldn't even match it in the AHL).

Islanders blow so hard.

Make my day.
We'll I'm going back in time using my looping technology

Luongo Kcon 3rd for Kadri Schenn 2nd

Schenn for JVR or Vorachek

Sign Schultz, using guys his age as bait (Schneider, JVR, Kadri, Kassian, Tanev, Jensen, Schroeder, Labate, Corrado) plus vets (sedins, Kesler, d vets). Spin a tale of competing now and into the future.

Sedin sedin Burrows
Jensen/Booth Kesler Higgins
JVR Kadri Kassian
Mayray/Booth Schroeder Hansen

Edler Schultz
Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Tanev

Deal Booth or Mayray, and Ballard

Kadri has tough guys playing with him, allowing him to play more freely. If he was in Vancouver, who (other than Kassian) would fill that tough role? The Canucks' top forwards (again, excepting Kassian) are too soft. As a matter of debate, so are the top 6 D (excepting Bieksa).

Could you imagine what this team would look like with: Hodgson, Grabner, Ehrhoff, Volpatti, Esa Tikanen and Kadri.

Crazy. Gillis' job should be on the line.

Whoops, forgot to add Tanner Glass and Marc Chouinard.

Kessel and Bozak are tough as nails eh? This is a terrible post.

Kadri plays primarily with MacArthur and Colton Orr from what I've seen.

That is what alflives was getting at IMO.

He's got a goon on his line that lets him play tougher than he is (hence suckerpunching Hedman when there was a guy in between them).

Reading your post I see you are in agreement that the Canuck's top forwards are too soft. And no, I will not insult your reply.

You were saying the Canucks top 6 are soft. I'd much rather the "soft" Canucks than the "bad a$$ tough as nails" Leafs

I am not disagreeing with your evaluation of the Canuck's top forwards being (currently) more talented than the Leaf's top forwards. I am pointing out that the Leafs have tough players, who play with their top forwards, allowing their top forwards to play more freely. The Canucks should give their top forwards the same protection.

I remember hearing an interview with Gino Odjik. It was a couple of years ago, soon after the Canucks were roughed up so badly by Boston (especially the twins) He said it was a shame the Canucks didn't have someone playing with the twins to protect them - like he did for Bure.

Yeah I heard him saying a similar thing last year, he was really fired up about it.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Kadri - Frattin/Kassian
Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen
Weise - Lapierre - Frattin/Kassian

Assuming we got both once upon a time. That lineup is no less tougher than what Toronto's icing, but infinitely more skilled. Kadri may not be a proven star by any means but to say he would not benefit our roster is simply wrong.

Is this the case you're talking about?
I rest my case.

The case you made was having tough guys in the top forward group, Sestito is not that, he's a replacement level 13th forward with size.

He will take shifts - absolutely - with the top forwards, especially with the Twins. Why do you think Lucic gets paid so well? It's not because of his skating, or stick handling, or playmaking. It's because he can play in the top 6, and fight. The Canucks have Kassian, but he needs support. He can't carry that responsibility by himself. Sestito will play more shifts with the top players than you realize. If not, I am staring at my very old smelly hat I shall ......

I don't see it. I think you're expecting too much.

Volpatti never took shifts with the good players (he got caught out between shifts though).

Kassian will take shifts with the Sedins before Sestito gets a sniff.

I'm expecting Pinnizzotto to crash and burn, at which point Vandermeer gets the call.
