So it’s not based on live stats like traditional fantasy but the agreed upon strength of the roster, no trades? I like it. When do you draft?

Yep. Sometimes trades but not for this upcoming one. Probably start drafting in a week or so and then we'll run another in a month or two from now.

Looking for a left winger/center to play on my PS5 EASHL club this weekend. We play as a 5 man club, I play center but I can switch to lw if you prefer center. We’re division 1 but we play for fun and not real serious. We play from 10pm to around 2-3am Eastern time Friday and Saturday nights. One last thing, we’re not politically correct so we may say stuff that might offend you so just a heads up.

Pretty strong rumors that Red Dead Redemption (the original game from 2010) is going to be remade (not remastered in the old engine, but actually remade in the Red Dead 2 engine and open world, and I assume that means it will be utilizing the Red Dead 2 shooting, gathering mechanics, etc), and that it's announcement and possible release could be in the next 2 months or so. Probably at least on PS5/XB Series X, but also possibly PC.

What a time to be alive. I did play that game on PS3 and I bought the backwards compat version just to have it for XB1, but I've always wanted that game for PC. A remade version in the RDR2 world sounds completely awesome. I assume that also means the Rockstar would finish the Mexico portion of the RDR2 map, since you could always SEE it from RDR2's world, and RDR1 takes place there.

I'd LOVE a remastered RDR1 on SteamDeck!

I have an X-Box series whatever one was cheaper that I pretty much use exclusively for NHL (which is a really unsatisfying game but the only way to scratch the hockey itch). I also have some downtime for gaming. I would love to sell and grab a PS5 and play FF16 but it’s pretty much the least responsible thing an unemployed loser can do so I’m resisting the urge. I may download Witcher 3 again though and burn some hours to scratch the fantasy RPG urges.

I logged 300+ hours into my first Witcher 3 save and have absolutely no shame about it.

Have you played through the DLCs? They're both very good (Blood and Wine is better than 99.9% of actual games that have come out since then.)

The Witcher 3 is IMO the best video game of the modern era.

I actually think I like Hearts of Stone better. The plot is just better than Blood and Wine IMO.

Just completed ff16.

Solid 9/10 game. Definitely peaked with the chapter I spoke about earlier and they literally drop close to a dozen sidequests on you right before the last fight (I did them all and I would advise that anyone who plays this game does so as well) which was weird af, seems like things they could have sprinkled them in along the way instead of just dropping all of them on you at the end. That’s really bugging me as maybe only 4 or 5 of them really needed to be there at that point in the game.

Side quests defiantly got better as the game progresses and the Hunts were challenging as long as you chose to do them once they became available. Wait too long and you can literally button mash your way through then easily.

Final boss was a bit of a let down and was probably my least favorite of the boss fights. The whole final chapter was so weirdly paced all together and spending a few days covering all the additional stuff they threw at me 100% threw me off of the flow of the game. I’ll replay it straight with out all of that stuff and see if it plays better that way eventually but I haven’t been that let down by a final boss in a mainline ff game since ff9 (which while it was a good game, is easily the most overrated entry in the series imo.)

Enjoyed FF7R more but this was a very good game but would have been an 8/10 or perhaps lower if not for one of the most best sequences I’ve ever experienced in gaming (speaks to just how GOOD that chapter was. Still stand by saying it was worth the price of the game alone.)

So many built in opportunities for DLC which I hope they take advantage of. This isn’t FF15 where the additional material is necessary to carry the game but there’s a pretty major uh… character who was absent from the game all together (outside of being referenced) and it would be more than worth exploring that story.

Soundtrack f***ing smacks though. 69/10 on that end.

@GoAwayPanarin i just read you completed FF16, didn’t want to get spoiled so didn’t read the rest. Congrats man! I have really dragged out Zelda, but am heading towards the final parts of the game story wise, but still so much more side stuff to do.

My plan is to start FF16 end of July/Beginning of Aug.

I kept it spoiler free as I know there are others playing it who haven’t finished it.

Oh wow, 15 was probably least favorite in 25-30 years. Thought the story was so lame and the world so boring and dead.

15 was an insult in the sense that the base game was woefully incomplete.

If "royal edition" had been day one edition, it would have been a much better game but it's hard to get over what they sent out at launch.

It was not challenging at all, the story was pretty blah until you got to the end of the game and the side quests were pointless. The four main post game "dungeons" were pretty easy to clear.

Pitioss Ruins was the only post game thing really worth doing and it was f***ing dope. Wish the rest of that game got the attention and care that area did.

I did enjoy this game more than 13 which I just could not get into.

15 is my 5th favorite FF lol.

Royal Edition is a must though, the launch version was definitely unfinished.

I thought the world was amazing, the problem is the game hides a lot things from you inexplicably, there’s so much depth there but it’s hidden under the surface. The main story doesn’t even take to most of the world.
That’s one thing that 15 does better than 16, is exploration.

15 is what I would describe as “more than the sum of its parts”

The Royale Edition is the only reason it deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the rest of the FF series.

The original release was awful. It was a giant world, void of depth, with a terrible story, and an absurd amount of "fetch and return" side quests that only served to hide the games obscene flaw of being empty.

I’m about 70% thru FF16, very good game, some jaw dropping moments. Not sure it’s better than 15 for me though (I love that game).

16 is superior to 15, although I think the completed version of 15 is a bit underrated.

I enjoyed the bond between the characters in 15. I thought the cooking aspect was cool. The combat system was enjoyable. Some of the boss fights were interesting. It was ultimately a huge let down when you consider how many freaking years they actually spent on but I don't think it was as bad as XIII, which is an absolute abomination of a game/series. Plus, we got to see Cydney's epic rack!

16 is definitely more polished. But the scope is much narrower. 15 had so many cool mechanics and ideas like the camping, the food system, the photography, the cool summons, the fishing (best fishing mini game in any RPG) the car which turns into a freaking AIRSHIP (and a monster truck in the Royal Edition). Just so much ambition in that game, too much in fact, which caused a lot of issues.

16 is far less ambitious but they put a lot more focus on telling a coherent story which is what a lot of people complained about in 15.

I totally agree. It's funny cause one of my gaming buddies hated 15 and is loving 16, and another loved 15 and it meh on 16. One is a Devils fan and the other is a Pens fan, so f*** them both.

For those who have played FF15 and 16: How does the combat compare between the 2? How is it compared to FF7R? I haven't had the time/energy to read up on anything about 16 so I don't know squat. I played maybe 10ish hours of 15 and the combat was so confusing and difficult for me to follow. Maybe I just wasn't paying very close attention, but I just remember having no idea what I was doing in any fight. I also vaguely remember having a semi-difficult time in my ~15-20 hours with 7R, but also that I enjoyed the combat a lot more. It felt like it made more sense in 7R compared to 15.

I'm one of the few who really dislikes the departure from turn-based combat, so maybe this is just a "Old man yells at Cloud (Strife)" situation.

This is about as far of a departure from turn based as you can get though so if the others haven't really been your cup of tea, this most certainly won't be.

Combat is tougher to pick up on here then it was in either FF15 or FF7R. I have played a decent amount of action RPGs so it wasn't that much of a struggle for me but if you haven't really delved into the genre its going to be a decent learning curve (nothing that you or anyone else couldn't figure out within a few hours though. I picked up on FF7R's combat system really quickly and really enjoyed it. FF16's combat gives you way more to work with once you start opening up the skill tree.

I felt like FF7Rs combat was way more forgiving. Parry timing in 16 is legitimately tough until you unlock a certain ability later in the game and enemies can really f*** you up if you aren't careful. I wouldn't call the game hard (it certainly isn't a FromSoft game), but it isn't a cake walk.

I got through all of FF15 and FF7R with out hitting a single game over (well, at least until hard mode in FF7R, f***ing hell house) where as I took a few L's in FF16 (Only one on a boss who had a move I wasn't prepared for that just ate my life bar. The others were doing hunts that were way above my level.) Phoenix downs are not a thing in ff16 so once your HP hits 0, you're done.

Games I've finished recently:

FF6 Pixel remaster - good, though I had been led to expect that Kefka was the best bad guy in FF history and was slightly let down there.

Disco Elysium - odd as shit, but very enjoyable. Tempted to play again with different approach but I'm not sure of it's replay-ability though.
