Annnndd combat is incredibly addicting.

I’ve spent way too much time in the uh… training area just trying to come up with new combos.

Also anyone who reviewed this game as button mash-y and hack and slash must have played with the equippables that make this game a breeze. You really get punished if you don’t take the time to learn what certain enemies are doing. I nearly
Got my ass kicked by a non boss thinking i could take it out in a few hits.

Read some of those reviews.

The button mashing complaint is just the veneer. The true heart of the problem with this game...is something else, and I don't want to bring it up because I don't want to ruffle feathers.

Let's just say some people tried to stir similar BS with the new Zelda game, but it got quickly kiboshed.

So, I am about 20+ hours into Zelda, I just keep exploring, and exploring, and exploring. Not to give too much away. But it's like they took Skyward Sword, BotW, and Twilight Princess and merged them together.

This game is going to easily be on the top of my list of Zelda's.
Not sure if Diablo killed it for me or if i am just over the sandbox, but TotK isn't compelling me to boot it up much these days.

FF16 thoughts so far:

Has vacillated between f***ING NUTS to just meh. All the side quests I've done so far have been a waste of time (some have paid off with some decent world building, but its been verrrryyy fetch quest heavy) but ohhh man some of the fights are just next level fun. Remind me so much of some of the over the top epic fights in the 2018 GoW. Just wrapped up one that was jaw dropping amazing.

I want all the Eikon abilities now. I've strung together some pretty awesome combos with just the 2 that I have at the moment.
Personally, as a long time FFXIV player I want to buy a PS5 just to play FFXVI. Plus I could play Ragnarok.

I never got into FFXIV but I'm leaning towards giving it a go now.

Side quests start off very meh but apparently are much better the second half of the game and tie up a loose ends and explore a lot of the minor characters you meet. Which i feel is rare since usually the side quests get worse/boring/repetitive as games go on.

I’m not that far in yet, just did one side quest, made 500 gold and got some nice items to give 3 people food in the Hideout…I don’t think the cook really thought that deal out

FFXIV is fantastic. I’ll be back when the next big expansion comes. Regarding 16, I’ve heard the side quests start off very generic but get much more engaging and rewarding. I know I’m going to love that game. But XIV is awesome. Fantastic even.

Okay so finally came across a side quest that wasn’t dumb.

Holy shit lol. All kinds of f***ed up but also all kinds of satisfying.

You like side quests? Wait till you play ToTK wow. 30 hours now and only 25% into the story. Not even.

I usually hate side quests but I’m very much committed to doing them in almost everything I play. Most games do them very poorly, even games that are otherwise excellent.

Ill do as much as I can in TotK that isn’t related to korok seeds when I get to it. The puzzle shrines in BotW were awesome. At first they were necessary because I wanted to upgrade my health/stamina but after a while it just became about completing them. There were a few that actually gave me a decent bit of trouble.

Like with BoTW the side quests really help you with the main story missions. I don’t want to give too much away, you will see soon enough.

Yeah I don’t see myself completing that game until 2024.

Also in addition to the side quest in ff16 I referenced above, the one I completed next was even more f***ed up. Story just took a pretty big turn too (hard to tell if this will be good or bad in the long run.)

Playing Mass Effect (Definitive PS5) for the first time and liking it.

And, if we're talking about things to be remade, let's add Vagrant Story to the list. Maybe the most underrated game of its generation.
Mass Effect hits different. I played it for the first time in January and was hooked. Only got 2 hours into ME2 before stopping but it's probably worth it for the "villain" alone (voiced by Martin Sheen). I'll get back to it at some point.

I desperately want to play FF16 (and God of War) but gaming ain’t in the budget.

Different type of gaming, but...

We're looking for some new GMs to join us over on the GM Games forum.

We have a new game that is taking sign-ups now, for anyone who wants to make the offseason go by a bit quicker.

Happy to discuss!

I have an X-Box series whatever one was cheaper that I pretty much use exclusively for NHL (which is a really unsatisfying game but the only way to scratch the hockey itch). I also have some downtime for gaming. I would love to sell and grab a PS5 and play FF16 but it’s pretty much the least responsible thing an unemployed loser can do so I’m resisting the urge. I may download Witcher 3 again though and burn some hours to scratch the fantasy RPG urges.

I’d like to know more.

32 guys draft teams starting from scratch. 20 rounds, 3rd round is reversed because elite centers are too elite. 70M cap. Once we all are done, then we collectively vote on a match-up bracket to determine a winner.

Usually takes a couple weeks. Lots of fun, if you're into this kind of game.

So it’s not based on live stats like traditional fantasy but the agreed upon strength of the roster, no trades? I like it. When do you draft?
