Speaking of people who died, I saw Tony Bennett in 2001 when he was 74yo. Short show, but entertaining.

I later grew a greater appreciation for vocalists / instrumental bands thru my wife who likes Harry Connick Jr., Michael Buble, Bruno Mars, etc.

My niece introduced me to this dude. Korean rap. It’s really good. The dude has good rhythm and the music underneath it is great

Sadly, today we lost one of my favorites in Sinead O'Connor. While I wasn't fond of her later stuff, her very first album as a relative unknown was an incredible display of powerful, passionate, and beautiful song writing. The album was called "the Lion and the Cobra." I had it on vinyl. :eek3:

I recommend "Jackie", "Jerusalem", the epic "Troy", and period piece "Drink before the War." The link is the start of the album playlist.

If you never listen to anything else she did, listen to what I think is her crowning achievement "Troy."

Some good hip hop and some good outlaw country!

This song has been in repeat! Love the hook and the message.

Willie may be my favorite artist ever:

I listen to this song when I'm struggling with someone dying:

'You could hear us singing for a country mile
Now little brother has done gone on
But Ill rejoin him in a song
We'll be together again up yonder in a little while'

I will be checking out all of these songs tomorrow. I love hip hop and country, but as a side interest. I’m sure I’ve missed a tonne of gems.

This is what I’ve been obsessed with recently. I used to love Muse waaaaay back in the day. Saw them live in about 2003 I think, I had already listened to their stuff beforehand but they blew me away live. One of the best shows I’ve seen.

That last Muse album where that track you posted the video comes from is terrific IMO (as opposed to the previous few that were more hit or miss to my tastes). That Halloween song on the album always gets me though because it feels like such a non-sequiter. It's like they collectively said to themselves "there aren't many good halloween themed/adjacent songs, let's make one and just sort of throw it in".

The video for it is truly excellent though, with tons of callbacks to various horror movies:

I’m gonna go through the whole album. I listened to half of it yesterday while driving my daughter to dance class number number seven of her weekly 26,796 classes. Loved the Halloween somg, so Synthy!

Let’s take two metalcore bands, throw in a rapper, add PSA clips, mix it by two members of a punk band, and what do you get?

You get a lawsuit. And you get a “holy f***!”

Speaking of which:

And then to bring it back to rap, let’s go with a Dane doing an acoustic version of a 50 Cent song, and have a couple of Italians remix it to make it danceable.

A trombone player I used to play with shared this with me a while ago, I guess it might resonate if you are into weird stuff. genre: Psychobilly

This record I came across when I was a teenager when the mp3 thingy started without remembering the artist or title.
Then I rediscovered it 10 years later and 5 years after that I actually found myself playing the same festival as the female singer Linda Sharrock, since this record is from 1969 she was already in her late 60s early 70s and in a wheelchair after a stroke but still performing (she still is after my knowledge).
I didnt had the courage to talk to her or to bring her the record to sign, also I wasn't sure she wanted to be remembered of a record she did nearly 50 years ago. genre: free jazz

I love Ellie Goulding’s voice. One day I’ll be rich enough to hire her to sing me to sleep. But it really works with The Boss’ music. I really don’t get how “shitty DJs” can figure things out with music from wildly different eras.

Let’s span 3 decades in one song and have it still somehow work. Once again, “shitty DJs” figure it out.

And let’s have a piano cover of my favourite song ever. And I don’t get how someone can play it but have their hands do two different things.

The original version of my favourite song. I don’t get how the drummer can beat the shit out of the drums but still be in time
