Speculation: The 2026-27 Roster Speculation Thread: Summer Edition - Throw in All The Oars, We're Trading for Battleships

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I wonder if they try to address the Tuch replacement via free agency. Laine, Jenner, maybe Zuccarello if he doesn't re-sign with the Wild. Something short term for a middle six forward and count on them plus the kids to fill that hole.

Trocheck is getting paid a fair contract and brings a lot of what this team needs down the middle - two-way play, veteran leadership, can put up 60 ish points a season, can PK. He fills a hole. The cost is the real concern.

I don’t want to hear any of the faceoff freaks complaining, that’s for sure.

I’ll complain enough for all of us though so don’t worry.

PK will definitely need a boost with Tuch and Greenway out of the picture. Losing Byram clearly hurts too.

I dont mind adding a solid 2nd line C who can play bottom-6 minutes as he ages to take the heavy defensive load until Helenius/Ostlund/4OA are ready to play big minutes. His contract isn't much of an issue, either, unless he falls off cliff.

He's old and has been declining for years now. There ain't much left there, let alone at over 5 million.

I think the cliff fall already started.

Reminds me a bit of Rust last year. Many thought his game was falling off a cliff, and he had another really good year. There was a reason Pens fans wanted the moon for him. I think Trocheck will be a good middle-6C for the foreseeable future.

I believe he's signed for two more years after this. It shouldn't be too hard to get out of his contract if he falls off a cliff in the next two years. He's turning 33 this year. I think there's still two good seasons of play left in him.

Trading for Trocheck as a stopgap better be attached to bringing one of Malhotra or Bjorck in with pick 4. Because that’s a plan. And I don’t have to agree with plans to respect them. And we need Cs. You want to compete now…fill in some of what Tuch did for you…and draft and develop a high end C prospect while he’s doing it. Fine. I’m in.

If we trade for Trocheck and draft a D…I’m far less enthusiastic about our future at the position.
