Look, a Euro. Everyone will love him because he is a Euro. Do European posters struggle with self hatred the way us Americans do?

There's a wide gap between "exciting" and "it would be shocking if a guy becomes an AHL regular"

few picks later and the Penguins pick a non overager forward who was almost PPG in the MHL and had two points in 21 games in the KHL
Sounds like Pittsburgh got an amazing talent there, I'm sure you've watched him play a lot.

I do feel like there has to be even one forward worth taking past the 3rd round. It's not that hot a take
I have no idea why people are concerned about filling positional needs outside the 1st round (if at all).

These guys are like 3-5 years away from the NHL. We'll be able to find some forwards to fill out the roster by then, Trust your scouts and take the guys you think have the best chance of being good NHLers

I have not watched him play at all, as you know, and maybe, in spite of the reasonable success it appears he had as a draft eligible player, he has some terrible flaw to his game.

Who knows, certainly not me, but it seems worthy of a swing in the fifth round, and the Penguins certainly thought so.

Regardless, Phelan will never play a game in the NHL, and probably won't even play in the AHL. You know it, I know it. It's a low ceiling, low floor pick. Serves no purpose.

Am I alone in thinking Jackie Redmond has been the only good thing about today's portion of the draft?

I guess since they're celebrating David Poile this week we wanted to use this draft to try to build a team the same way he did.
