GDT: The 2020 TDL Thread: Part II

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates

Canes can still get a goalie via a trade...he just would not be able to play in the playoffs . I am almost 100% sure that is possible. Then maybe their goalies are back for playoffs . Question is...who and at what cost ? EDIT: Albeit probably highly unlikely it would happen .

Guy just scored two goals including the game winner. And even when he isn't scoring he is noticeable. Why on earth is everyone disappointed? He is a True Blue Ranger. It's not like he would have any value in return anyway, unless he was a sweetner in a multiplayer deal. He'll sign a contract with us in the offseason.

They can. But I'm sure they would have done it before the deadline if they were going to. Their AHL goalies won't be a disaster, I think.

Might depend on what happens the next few games....and a few were saying they had a long wait for the Skjei trade to be approved because of their money situation .....so maybe funds are /were a problem?
 
I don't think they'll specifically clear cap for him, but if the space is there, I bet they'll offer Fast a good chunk of money in the summer.

I think Canes coaching might be the problem there...something just not right with them this season . That would be plus not having a quality goalie .....which is very obvious . As they say....."show me a a great coach and I will show you a great goalie ".
 
I guess we have to root hard for Columbus and Florida now? I know Toronto's pick is lottery protected and I would be shocked if Carolina's wasn't as well.
 
First time I could get on here without the servers being absolute dog shit.

Kreider extension: B: LW is the most shallow position organizationally. There's literally no one after Panarin. I don't like that he got 7 years, but the cap hit is more than palatable

Skjei: C+: Feel like there should have been a defensive prospect or at least a bottom pairing defenseman coming back in addition to the 1st, which will be anywhere from 16-31st overall. The emergence of Lindgren allowed Gorton to make this deal. The amateur scouts must also be giving great feedback regarding Miller and Robertson. I hope to God that one of them is ready to step in next year, because Hajek or Rykov are not the answer.

Not trading Fast: F: I'm floored Fast wasn't dealt. Floored. I don't see a scenario where he comes back unless the Rangers pony up. The Rangers better make the playoffs to make self renting him worth it.

It's a NEVER ENDING PROCESS.. The hope is once the window opens, it stays open.

I can't believe people are upset about the Skjei trade . Dude was getting roasted constantly, people wonder how in the hell we're going to unload this guy, hoping Seattle might nab him etc... And we get a 1st with no strings attached for him to clear up space to sign Tony + others, this is a homerun.

We were never getting a lottery pick for Skjei. He has had too many issues the past couple years. This draft is deep so even in the early 39s you can get a good prospect. Miller we got at 22 and Nils at 27. Best case scenerio is that both the canes and leafs flop and both picks are in the teens

He's not wrong. Carrying extra picks and prospects is also incredibly important when looking to upgrade the roster. It seems like Tampa Bay continuously has an asset that can bolster their lineup. So much so they were able to literally burn two 1st round draft picks without a sweat this past week.
