If Names got a 4th, Fast was probably getting a 5th. At that point they probably saw more value in keeping him

Depth players are returning depth draft pics today. Fast is more valuable to us than a 3rd round pick in my opinion.

Easily the most confusing deadline I’ve seen since joining this site

To recap:

- Our GM caved at the 12th hour and handed out a bad contract to Kreider
- Self rent Fast because apparently they believe the team can make a run this season (?)
- Trade (and probably sell low IMO) your top LD in Skjei for futures that won’t help the previously mentioned run
- Igor and Buchnevich injured, with Igor (who’s the best goalie and the one who would be playing on said run) out for the rest of the season​

Pure bad luck on the injuries to Igor and Buch obviously. But for a team that’s supposed to be building a “powerhouse for the next decade” as we’ve been told countless times, they sure as hell didn’t operate like one today in my vie

disagree totally. I loved our deadline. My only regret is that Igor and Buch got hurt that sucks and hurts

They way teams were overpaying, i think we could have gotten a 2nd. I think that much more valuable than a run to the playoffs without igor.

I wanted to share this with you guys. I guess it’s appropriate that today I got the Kreider goal puck from the Vegas game in the mail today. No one was buying it off the Vegas team site so I got it for $100. Great souvenir from a great weekend. If you have the chance, go see the Rangers in Vegas, it’s awesome.View attachment 326477

Saw a game there in their inaugural season against Calgary. Great experience.

thank you. some of the things I relayed played out. some did not. such is life. but pretty ok overall with the outcome less the 7th year for CK21. there will be more moves at TDL. still stockpiling up on assets to make bigger moves later. good. very good. now go get the Czar a fulltime chauffeur

Why the hell is Fast still on this team??? Literally makes no sense.

Four time winner of Players' Player Award. The award has been given annually since the end of the 1958-59 season to the player, selected by his teammates "who best exemplifies what it means to be a team player.

Fast has value showing the kids the right way to play.

I have zero issues with today in totality. I don't love Kreider's term, but his salary is perfectly fair.

Plus I don't believe it is a full no trade clause.

None of us actually know as of now but I don't think teams were willing to offer a 2nd for Fast which is why he's still on the team

No idea why people have a problem with Fast. The issue is we dont have enough depth on the rw yet for him to be placed in the bottom 6 where he belongs.

Sensed a big red flag when trades were being made last week and with all these potential moves the Rangers were making none/one. Like Talbot years ago, the Rangers wait too long IMO.

Kreider - you make the decision to trade him or sign him earlier. You don’t wait to announce it at 11:30 and 4.5 hours before the deadline. Those hours and efforts should be to move Fast and company. Ridiculous

It sounds like part of the reason they kept Fast was again part of the reason they kept Kreider and that makes me think they'll try to re-sign him pretty hard.

They want to keep a core group of veterans on this team that they feel will pull everyone together and provide consistency as they add to the roster and things lik ethat. It's really damn tough to turn over the roster a bunch every year and start back at square one in terms of learning systems and coming together as a team, etc. I think they want to build on what they feel they have going lately and have that carry over into next season rather than start all over again and feel like they're battling to get back to respectability for the first half or more of the season.

There are moves to still make obviously but I bet they at least feel "good" that they got another 1st round pick for this draft and cleared the cap space they think they'll need to sign up other players. It's still all part of building the team rather than constantly tearing it down.

sure, mess the cap up even more and buy them out. Send ADA and Strome to arbitration while apparently they forgot Fast is an UFA so he walks.

We don’t know what would happen with ADA and please don’t put Strome in the same category. Out of the OTHER three that I mentioned the quality of the team is NOT going to be worse off in quality if they are moved.

Butterfly wings rule the cosmos btw. Byfield over Tim? Sure. I accept. Avery good scout I talked to the other day had a very different view though.They will likely get #1 too

he’s UFA and it’s a rebuild. Did we need a press release to make it official?
