Kreider at $6.5 million.
Skjei fully off the books for a 1st.
Keane for Gauthier.

In my view, a good (not great) deadline for Gorton.

My guess is that Gorton was also shopping Hank, Georgiev, and Fast. The goalies had to come off the block after the freak accident. Fast offers likely weren't good enough to justify blowing up the playoff chase which I think is more valuable to the young roster than whatever mid-round pick they would have gotten for a him.

Not happy with this TDL overall:

- resign Krieder - great
- Skjei trade - I’m kinda ambivalent but makes sense
- kept Georgie for obvious reasons, fine
- why couldn’t we get an asset for Fast, or Lias, or give an asset to dump Smith at 25-50%

left us a lot of work to do in offseason around the draft

I have zero issues with today in totality. I don't love Kreider's term, but his salary is perfectly fair. Skjei clearly wasn't progressing here, we needed the cap space, and another 1st next year certainly helps flexibility moving forward pre-draft.

I mean, we all knew that Old Man Staal wasn't going to get traded no matter how well Uncle Larry thinks he's playing.

Curious, though, if or how things would've unfolded without the car accident. Obviously no one ponied up a 2nd or better for Fast so the Rangers are better off keeping him for their playoff hopes and signing him to a fair contract next year. Didn't expect a whole lot else, truthfully.

I'm fine with it.

With signing Kreider I can’t see the Rangers keeping two of Lundqvist, Staal or Smith beyond the offseason.

They will sign Fast

Lias will play overseas then go at the draft

No good deal to be had? Long term plans? I'd love to keep Fast cheap, he's elite bottom 6 material. We can still sign him cheap and trade him later.

I think the Rangers are looking to keep him and redeem the situation.

Let it go folks. There are dumb deals to be done, but no GM is that stupid. Smith needs to get bought out, or carried to the end.

Looking at the schedule, the rangers theoretically don't NEED to have a 7th D on the roster for emergencies until 3/10 when they head out west. Until then its only trips to Montreal and Philly.
