Been thinking a lot about the direction we go here if we lose Kreider.

I’d be a fool to not see the writing on the wall with Strome. They like him they really do. I don’t but they do.

I see the idea of bringing in a Jost or a Kyrou.

which lefty is the biggest strongest fastest shoot first guy we have right now that could do the best job duplicating what CK can do on the rush next to mika?

Who needs way more ice time than they’re currently getting?

Filip Chytil.

I am and have been the biggest advocate of Chytil at center. I think it was would ridiculous to move him from that spot. I also think it’s ridiculous to trade Kreider and keep a guy like Strome. But that doesn’t mean I’m right or that management agrees.

what I will say is that kid needs more ice time. That kid can skate with Mika. He can fly down the wing and win puck battles. Mika does so much damage on the rush.

if you trade Kreider and Fast you can elevate your two best young kids to top 6 roles.

Chytil Zibanejad Buchnevich
Panarin Strome Kakko
Kravtsov Kyrou/Jost Gauthier
Lemieux Howden DiGi

This could be the plan B scenario

Kreider and Fast are out

A 3rd trade seems like a 50/50 chance, but who?

This team really reminds me of the 2006 Rangers . Where we're going for a rebuild, but Jagr and Lundqivst dragged us out. Now its just Igor and Panarin. Only difference here is that we actually have some prospects. I think it goes without saying what Kreider brings to this team. He likely gets the C if he were signed longer. I hate to see him go, but I hate to see who we have to sacrifice in the years to come to accommodate that contract. I think Fox will become an 8m player. Zibs will need to be resigned for 10m. Kakko could become a 10m player. I wouldnt trade a 7th round pick for Derek Stepan right now. As much as I loved Callahan, I was dancing the day they announced his trade because it was addition by subtraction due to his eventual contract. I think Kreider will play far better than Callahan and Stepan into his later years. But there is no doubt in my mind that someone important will eventually be sacrificed for a 7m 3rd line LWer. Today alone we are talking about getting rid of ADA to keep Kreider. What other young talented players are going to have to give the boot 6-7 years down the road? I believe cap management and good drafting is what leads to championships now. And while I think Kreider will have a much better post 30 career than guys like Stepan and Callahan, its still a big risk.

Oh good another poster taking a shot at me i see. Because ya know i really went on a long diatribe about Jost the past couple weeks... i must have been blacked out for that post...

thanks @NYR Viper

I wasn’t taking a shot at you, nor do I think you made a long post about it. I was just saying that it feels like you’ve said this several times.

My intention was sardonic good-natured ribbing. Then again, it’s deadline day and everyone (including me) has the weird energy that comes with that... so my apologies.
