The Hockey News Draft Issue should hit newsstands in the next week or so. If you download the THN app, they were running an offer where you can get a digital copy of the issue immediately for $1. Their rankings are roughly in line with most of the others; Zacha at 7 and Barzal at 10 might be the notable difference. And then they have Jeremy Bracco in the 70s with only a short blurb about having an attitude which I hadn't heard before.

That would give us Barzal, Bitler, and Dergachyev as our first three picks.

Shero and Conte can hire me at any time.

I watched the highlights of Dergachyev i really liked his plays on the PK and he showed some good offense and strength. Would be a solid pick up.

This mock might go into the 3rd and later rounds. If so I'm posting it here and you guys are helping more because I don't know **** after this.

For now in this HF Mod mock we have drafted Barzal, Bittner, and Dergachyev.

Talk about a vastly improved forward prospect pool

Couple of others potential later round guys for you:

Roope Hintz, C - Amazing hockey IQ, good wheels, decent skill set. Probably a guy Conte has some genuine interest in.

Dimitro Timoshev, W - Put up gaudy points in the Q, but scouts aren't high on him overall. Not sure why.

Filip Ahl, F - Euro power forward with some skill. Would go higher in most drafts. Not a bad pick anytime after our 3rd.

Adam Musil, F - Bobby Holik's nephew, and it shows. Decent skill set and plays with an edge. Could fall into the 4th round or later.

Timoshev should probably drop to the 4th or even 5th rounds (he's small and there's the Russian factor) - For our 3rd rounder, if Korostelev is there, grab him...else, I'd hope that maybe Rasmus Anderson is still there, else there is a 6'2" Russian D man, Gavrikov, that was very good at the WJC.

If we can secure 3 solid forward prospects with our 1st 3 picks, I wouldn't be opposed to grabbing a goalie with either our 3rd or 4th round picks. Daniel Vladar is a 6'5" Czech goalie that could still be around with our 4th or Callum Booth. Blackwood will probably be gone by pick #67. We'll have Wedge and maybe Cleremont in Albany and Anthony B. still in junior but I doubt any of these has long term NHL potential. Would be nice to draft someone to begin to groom that could be in Albany in 2-3 years and and ready to back up as a 23 year old when Cory is 35. I think in 5 years, Kincaid will want to move onto a starter role...

I take Hintz over Korostelev 10 out of 10 times. By the 3rd round you're just looking for players with the best chance of making the NHL, not necessarily a player who projects high. Hintz has much higher hockey IQ, is a faster skater and already plays in a men's league.

All great points..Korostelev started the year as a possible 1st rounder but then seems to have really dropped - possibly 3rd rounder now....good offensive skills but lacking any defensive acumen entirely. I think Hintz could be a late 2nd but may still be there at #67. A safer pick for sure but at this point, I'd take a flyer on a boom/bust guy with our 3rd if we get 3 solid picks in the first 2 rounds.

My bad on Timoshev..still..think he's only listed at a very slight 5'9".

Looks like a potentially great 3rd liner...strong 2 way game...Devils player.

Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Conte has him ranked very high on our board. There have also been some indications he may have more offensive skill than a 3rd liner, but it's tough to tell at this point.

If even more upside is there, great. He looks like good value for a sub-1st rd pick.

I wonder with Shero on board if we'll target more USA players though.

Any way we can grab Boeser and Roslovic ?

I'll be curious to see if Columbus takes Roslovic with one of their high 2nds (#34 and #38). Hometown kid plus their head scout is based in Ann Arbor. They took a couple of the USNTDP kids with their first two picks last year.

Think there's a very good chance of that happening.....if he slips past #34 and depending upon who is available, I'd snag him at #36 otherwise, I think they'll grab him at 38.

He's one of the guys I'm hoping for with our pick at #36 anyway....

I think my top picks for us are:

Marner
White (if he slips to 2nd round)
Bracco
Dergachyev
Timashov

EDIT: And I think theres a solid chance we could get all of them.
