They are going to sign him knowing Hank won't be back and our goaltenders will be Biron and Hedberg next season, duh. Saves us a lot of money while not losing a Swede.

I heard the same thing. I also heard Rafa Nadal will be replacing Stepan as our first line center.

Stralman tried out with the Devils and signed with the Rangers about a month later.

Prospal was signed late in the summer.

Of course Semenov made the team on a PTO, then informed Sather that he was Punk'd.

Dixon Ward made the team in 2002 off a try-out. I believe Esa Tikkanen was a try-out in 1996. I feel like I'm missing someone recent...

edit2: TSN says Rozsival signed on 08/29, I remembered it as a try-out.

Imo this Hedberg things seems more like a temporary solution in case Marty's issues whatever they are will drag out for a longer time.

Marty is obviously the better goalie but if he for some reason won't be able to play for an extended time they brought in Hedberg
as an "emergency solution" or something like that.

The Rangers are attempting to sign Stepan to a two-year ‘bridge contract†coming out of Entry Level just as Nazem Kadri signed with the Maple Leafs on Tuesday and P.K. Subban signed with the Canadiens last year.

Kadri, who recorded the same number of goals, assists and points (18-26=44) as did Stepan last season but whose career numbers don’t match the Ranger center’s (26-37=63 in 99 games vs. 56-84=140 in 212) signed for $2.9 million per. The Blueshirts are believed to have offered less than that to Stepan.

Yeah, it seems to me like it's a bit foggy at this times so they are covering their ***** by inviting Hedberg. It Biron shows up in time to be ready for the start of the regular season, Hedberg still gets a chance to showcase himself to other NHL teams and stay in shape, which could lead to a contract elsewhere. Like Mark Smith trying out with the Rangers in 2007 and signing with the Flames.

Nash, ex-Cornell, was signed by Wolfpack mid-summer (after Marcou, who isn't on the list)

O'Donnell is 25 yr old just out of canadian university, the other 3 play junior, Burke is 19, Trainor and Stevenson are 20

Needs to get over 3 million per to get this done.
Sather put himself in this position by not buying out richards this summer.
Now people will blame stepan for holding out. When in reality he was very underpaid on his rookie deal and now they are asking their # 1 center to be severely underpaid on this deal as well.
Tough to swallow..... Dont care how much he loves being a ranger. They are treating him like garbage right now. He has to stand up for what he has done for 3 seasons and get paid
