Time to spend the money, this team is ready for the leap, with the right moves this off-season we will be world series contenders.

Bolster that bullpen, bring back the free agents and grab an impact player. Little worried about Ryu might need another starter but this teams best days are ahead of it and I am excited.

We are spending money, we have brought in Ryu and Springer in back to back years. No reason to believe we arent going to go all in with our young core continuing to get better, just dont expect them to spend for the sake of spending but rather to build around the existing timeframe of the current core.

fantastic last day of the season. A tip of the hat to the Rays and Nationals they didnt throw in the towel. Especially Tampa they played like they were the ones trying to get in.

Divisions based on Geography is such an archaic idea. You can fly from any MLB city to any other MLB city in 6 hours(Boston to San Diego, Miami to Seattle) at most and most of them are within 2 hours besides for a handful out West. There's no reason you can't just play everyone in your league 10 times and a few interleague games. If travel is so bad do 5 game series and any time you have a flight over 3 hours you get a day off.

Travel isn't the reason the schedule is unbalanced, its so that ESPN can show Yankees/Red Sox, Cubs/Cardinals, Dodgers/Giants or Mets/Phillies on SNB 20 times a season.

The AL schedule was balanced for the Jays entire existence until 2001.

91 wins. How many more do you think we can get?

I know it wasn’t long term but they did spend big to get Semien here on that one year deal

Well they also just cluster the games on the west coast so it doesn’t even matter. Like it’s a west coast swing. It’s not like we fly to Anaheim for one game then come directly home so it’s generally only one big flight for like a 3 to 5 game stretch

Hey, I don’t like the Yanks and Red Sox either but remember we made the playoffs in 2016 with 89 wins. Shit happens. The divisions will stay as is, for better or for worse. You don’t see TB complaining about the division now.

Optimally it's Ram at 3rd, Semien at SS, Bo at 2B, Espinal on the bench, and Biggio on the Guardians.

If Espinal is able to repeat this year, he's a 5 win 3B over 600 PA.

If we are truly going to start building, step 1 is to prevent Semien and Ray from hitting free agency.

Step 2 is to look at relievers who could be available for money reasons.

I'm backing off Ramirez and throwing any non-starter at Ohtani (including the possibility of trading our top 3 or 4 prospects AND eating Justin Upton's contract)

First 100 win team in Jays history

We should have an excellent team next year, but this division isn't going to get any easier. Sale and Severino are coming back and I think the Yankees and Red Sox will both be spenders this off-season. Hopefully Semien doesn't pull a Foligno and sign with one of them.

I'm hoping that Aub is right and we get 7 playoff teams, otherwise I can see 4 teams in our division with 93+ wins next year.

I think it will be 6 playoff teams

1 and 2 with a bye

best of 3 all home games for the higher seed
3 vs 6
4 vs 5

Lowest winning seed plays 1 and highest winning seed plays 2

No divisional winners just the best 6 teams in each division move on.
Blanced schedule where each teams plays their own league 8 times with 4 home and 4 away. 112 games

You play the other league 3 times x15 = 45 games

That is 157 games so you need to add 5 more games maybe 1 intraleague division you make it a 4 games series 2 h and 2 A to balance out 81 game home-and-away split.

and bringing back Ray, Yates, and Phelps. I suspect we will once again spend to shore up holes especially in the pen while any big money expenditure will go towards trying to retain Semien or on trading for someone like Ramirez.

7 teams? How would that work if there are three division winners?
Division winner with the best record gets a first round Bye. 2 Division winners and 4 Wild Card winners play a series and 3 of them move on to then make 4 teams in the next round.
Exactly how the NFL is going about their playoff format. I’d like to see this happen, it would create more importance for top record among the division winners. You could schedule Monday as an off day and for play-in scenarios. Wild card round is best of 3 in the higher seed home park Tuesday through Thursday and the divisional round starts Friday. Would give a decided edge to higher seeds giving them home field all three games but gives the teams competing for wild card spots more than one shot to advance.

I've filled out a couple surveys from the MLB where they asked what respondants thought about a format where the top 2 from each division and 2 wild cards would qualify.
