Choke is a little harsh. Baseball is a hard sport to maintain the level they were winning at. Just like it would be hard for NY and Boston to continue to lose at the same rate they were.

If you watched last weekend, particularly Sunday, you could get a sense that they were going to go into a slump.

Maybe. Maybe not. I think this team may simply be running out of gas. When they made the Berrios trade and other moves they had to go on a run winning at a high pace in order to get to the wild card spot. To their credit, they did that, but it's hard to expect any team to keep that up for an extended period without hitting a slump at some point. It worked in 2015, but asking them to do that again is a big ask. They got close, they still might do it, but the odds were always against them.

I still believe this team is not as good as many people believe it is. In particular, when you have a patchwork pitching staff for most of the season, I find it impressive for the team to be in the playoff hunt at all.
