Andersen will be with the leafs for YEARS, f***in hunting haunting years to come. Maybe even 5-6 more. Even more if the cup comes during that time, like next season. We might maofreakin trade suckas like JVR, or Bozak? Even Komaroviski might be gone. Y'all never know. But weall needs a sucka like simmonds, neely, wilson, tom back. We need that Lucic type of a big busy body. Lucic might be ours when the summer ends mark my words fools.

Not sure why Rielly is getting any hate, he was the bwst defenseman for either side in this series.

No defensemen really stuck out in general. I personally thought Chara ans McAvoy looked awful. Chara is still great in front of the net and huge for their pK, but he is one of the worst defenseman for protecting on the breakout... Just too slow at this point being 41yo.
They did a pretty good job of neutralizing Matthew's line and other lines I think. They couldn't have been that bad.

Other than tonight, I think Gardiner is actually pretty underrated defensively. He makes some questionable decisions though, and Liljegren has that in his game as well. I don't have a problem with that though myself

Gardiner has always been prone to the odd brain farther, it's a part of what makes him as good as he is

Liljegren has some offensive upside but he's been more solid defensively than I'd expected

The D has some major holes but ditching Gardiner won't make us better, building around Gardiner Rielly and Dermott would be the smart play

hope Lou retires, this is on him.

Dafuq is wrong with you?

Since you seem to have forgotten, two years ago they were dead last. Grow up and realize that this rebuild wasn't going to happen in two years.

Zait needs to either be sheltered with less minutes or reduced to a 3rd pairing role. Dermott looked good... hes steady, calm, strong, and can make a good first pass. He struggled a bit in this series though. Gardiner was fine he just needs a better d partner to better support him. Zaitsev isnt a top 4 D man on a legitimate contender. At least not this season. Maybe down the road.

Gards is a borderline top 4. Rielly is a top pairing guy. Dermott is probably a top 4 once he matures, besides that we don't have anybody else. Liljegren is probably a couple of years away.

I'm not upset. Its a bummer we lost but you can take away a lot of positives from the series. This team is young with a lot of playoff years ahead of them so losing early is a good learning experience that only helps them grow in the long run. I believe in the team and in management, this team wasn't perfect but I'm proud of them for fighting back Boston to take it to game 7 in the first place and finding a way to go ahead a few times. I'm already excited for next season and whats to come . Go Leafs go!

the only positive spin one would put on this season is that

last season we scraped to make playoffs this year we made it easily and put up 100 pts season

last year we had our assess handed to us in 6 games this year it extended one more game

progress?

i don't think so....

from asset management pov and future of this franchise this was an absolute failure

How do you improve when your counting on your young players to mature? Time. Making the playoffs last year was premature and unfortunate in retrospect.

Right there with you. Lets be honest, this team is making the playoffs with our without JVR. Probably could have made it without Bozak too. Which is better, losing a heartbreaking and having a core piece walk for nothing, Or a first-round exit but we have some pieces for the future?

Obviously, this is all in hindsight. If we lost in the first round while trading JVR people might be livid saying why would we trade a 30 goal scorer.

Yeah, for sure.

The pain of trading them would have been helped by the assets we could have received, and maybe even a young player as well. Could have even packaged something with him for a Dman......I just don't understand how the management couldn't have seen this.

We were never winning a cup, it was not in the cards.

Well lets keep drafting and hoping they can fix the team.

I think this series has a different feel when it comes to it's learning experience. I feel like this was more of a playoff grind than against Washington.

The asking price was very high I agree. Having Tanev break Juolevi in next season could be huge for his development though. I get his decision but we have a difficult picture to figure out on our right side. We got Tanev, Gudbranson, and Stecher all of whom can and have played admirably with Edler on our top line. Not sure who is 1, 2 , or 3. Ideally, Tanev plays top 4 minutes not top 2. Jim is pretty adamant in what he wants. He wants character players and draft picks. No idea what the actual asking price was even though we heard rumours. But a Mike Green could have potentially helped. Just somebody to help insulate the young d core.

ya that's awesome but see the problem is the Leafs need a guy who can stay in the lineup, otherwise it's not really worth the investment

enough with the Tanev crap

I’m not on board with the hate for Gardiner. Our forwards gave no support and blew the zone far too often.

I can barely contain my excitement at the thought of this team without Bozak/JVR, and competent defensive forwards in their place. We are going to be SO much more of a 200 foot team without them.

How low would Andersen's save % have to have been for you to say he played poorly?
It is a team game. Blaming the goalie is the easy thing. Ask any professional goalie coach. Rask had a worse game.

The team in front of Anderson got raddled and never could mount any resembling a comeback. I had fears that would happen as the team is so young. So many ups and downs in a high scoring game.

The Bruins are a pain in the butt. Physical, mean, and to be honest the refs kinda let them rule the rink in the final 30 minutes. Toronto had no leaders take charge and try to take the game back. Where was Austin Matthews... I noticed him on one shift with Marleau and Marner.. aside from that he was coasting around the ice and often returning to the bench from his d zone. He didnt move the needle at all. Hopefully its a shoulder injury because if it isnt.. you have a real character problem if he wont battle hard against a big, fast, and physical team like Boston. As a Canucks fan we have constantly had to battle big fast and physical teams in LA, ANA, and SJS. Its annoying and hard on your teams bodies.

I'm so pissed, mainly at Babcock. We just got outplayed by a team that has basically one scoring line and it was in pretty much every game of the series.

First, why are you trying to play dump and chase against the Bruins? They're better on the boards and you had an entire series to see that it doesn't work. We'd dump it then they'd win it and CARRY it back like you're supposed to and establish zone time in our zone.

Second, WHAT THE f*** is with those stretch passes? They ate them up in our neutral zone (and they were eating them in the neutral zone because the forwards kept leaving too early). Only Dermot and Rielly can pass the puck, the other four losers just ring it around the boards or make a bad pass so why are you doing this?

Seriously, does Babcock have a learning disability? Because a guy paid that much needs to be able to adapt and learn faster than he does but he keeps making the same mistake. Let's not even mention how stubborn he is with lines during the season.

Your a idiot if you think that.
Guess I’m an idiot too. Gardiner -5, Andersen with an .829. The coach can only do so much but I guess it’s hard for some fans to admit that this team has holes. The fans here just have a hard time giving accountability to the team members themselves.
