i don't have much gripe about the young players; my sole criticism is on

A) Management - that did not identify that pending UFAs like bozak/jvr/komarov etc.. are not impact players; and will not show up when going gets tough; did not flip them as support pieces for other teams; gathered assets that could have been used in trades for upgrades/replacementsofUFAs/drafts/etc...

B) Coaching - coaching staff should have done a better job at working on their breakouts and defensive structure; there was no need to have wingers blow the zone and then look for stretch passes; which boston clearly identified and feasted on by intercepting those passes (turnovers)

also i think babcock lobbied to not trade the UFAs; so am pretty pissed at him

I look at not trading the UFAs as investments into the future core. Hard to say how things play out if they are dealt but you can only go with what you think is the best at the time.

Coaching I agree 100%, it's been an issue since forever and still they are one of the worst teams in the league at breaking out of their zone under pressure.

I agree, he is a smooth skating puck moving d-man, but its what he lacks between the ears, his talent got him to the NHL but its his Hockey IQ that caused -5 and a really bad game tonight, that fans wont soon forget.

I didn't see him doing much puck moving this series.

People need to stop equating smooth skating dmen with dmen that are good at moving the puck.

Rielly and Dermott can move the puck, Gardiner treats it like a hot potato.

keeping impending UFA's was the wrong move, Leafs would have made the playoffs regardless, and like we just found out, keeping the UFA's didn't get them past the first round. Guess all the peeps who had delusions of this team winning a cup (including leaf mgmt) this year just woke up and smelt the coffee, too bad because the Leafs are a worst team now for not trading said impending UFA's.
I agree. Should of called up kids from the Marlies. Might of injected some more youthful enthusiasm. Keep the kids on this team hungry and let the older kids (Matthews/Marner) become leaders in the room during this series. Sad seeing another Canadian team falter. Now I have to cheer on the Jets the rest of the way. I like Leafs hockey its very entertaining.

You lost me at I'm not upset.
I'm not , as this year wasn't the year to have high expectations, I mean they did finish dead last just 2 short years ago. Next year is a different story though, while a cup shouldn't be expected , a 2nd round appearance is not unreasonable or unfair.

Tonight was a tough one.

Not pleased with Andersen, he didn’t get a lot of help from tonight’s D, but a it if a team is ever going to go on a deep playoff run you need your goalie to be above average. They need to be able to stop difficult shots, and Andersen had trouble doing that this series (he also let in some strange low quality chance shots as well).

The entire series/tonight’s game isn’t just on him, but he wasn’t great. Especially tonight.

Management made the biggest mistakes of the year. Even my 10 year old nephew seen we were not winning a cup, and we are losing assets for nothing. JVR doesn't give a shit if we lost lol he will be getting too much money elsewhere, and we get a big **** in the *** this really pisses me off more than anything in the season.

Should have packaged both Bozak, JVR, and maybe another prospect for the future.

There was 4 on 4, Leafs leading 4- 3. Marleau and Marner on the ice....Not one centre. Leafs lose defensive zone face-off. Krug scores now 4-4. Babcock who loves to manage match ups.. What was that nonsense.

I don't blame Babcock for not predicting Krug would score on a weak unscreened wrister from 60 feet away.

Babcock's arrogance is easier to swallow when his team is winning, his mantras are pathetic when his team chokes.

You want him to rip up his players? Pi55ed on Gardiner and crap on Andy? Or chew up Matthews and Willy? The players feel alot worse than him! Babcock made the adjustments to bring this team down from 3-1 to game 7, and they had the lead heading into the 3rd period, but just could not execute and bring it home. They will have all summer to think about this loss. It stings. The media and fans will prey on the players who didn't perform...but Babcock should not at all...you could call it arrogance, but he did the right thing by protecting his team. But of course most fans don't care because they have NO RELATIONSHIP with the players and their families. He is their coach and mentor, and is still in charge of the development of this young team...we lost the battle tonight, but the war is just beginning.

What? That makes it that all the worse. Rask basically handed us the series, and Andersen said "nope, you have it!"

If both teams got the same level of goaltending over the 7 games, and they did, then perhaps other weaknesses might be looked at first. that's all I was saying.

I think the Kadri suspension has kind of been forgotten about. That had a major role in the outcome of the series.

in case u missed it this year he was moving the puck to set up goals all season, the problem with him is he is scared of contact u seen it through the series as soon as any pressure came on to him he coughed it up
