You can blame whoever you want but having 7 shots on net in the last 30 minutes is abysmal.

Then mix in that Andersen let in 2 awful goals, 1 very questionable...

And then mix in that your best forward was a complete ghost for pretty much the entire series.

Ouch. Very ouch.
Don't mix in anything. I told all of you that it's fools gold when having to hide players. All series Boston was looking to catch JVR on the ice with the big line that dictated the series from the beginning.

So happy he's done. YOU DON'T WIN WITH JVR TYPES PERIOD. To win a Cup you need a whole team competing. Babcock has been trying to develop the big 3 TO NOT BE JVR and for the most has been successful at it but at last hiding players to benefit some offense bares it's ugly head it catches up in the playoffs.

I'm calling it right now Toronto is making the cup finals next season without this Joker of a player. The biggest mistake this franchise has made to date is not seeing who Josh Leivo is and not taking the best offer they could get in the offseason for JVR.

Josh Leivo is a James Neal type of player and we've f***ed up majorly on him to keep this gutless puke in JVR. Massive miss read and you all will see it.

I reserve judgement on Matthews for this series until we hear of his potential injury situation.

Wont shock me if its announced shortly hes going for shoulder surgery. He intimated as much when he came back from injury.

The only good thing is that this gives Lou all the material in the world to hammer Matthews and Nylander in contract negotiations.

Now if only someone can pressure him to make some f***ing moves for once and fix this blueline.

Series stars Marner, Hymen, Plekanec, Marleau and Kapanen.

Series Shop of horrors Gardiner, Andersen, Babcock, Nylander, JVR and Kadri.

Offseason needs to see Gardiner traded. seen enough. Plays poor in big games. JvR and Komarov should walk. Bozak is okay to be retained.

But the defensive system needs a tweak. How are we this bad in exiting our zone. Every D keeps looking for a stretch pass. No forwards in tight to allow simple quick passes. Dont know if bringing in a top 4 RHD will fix this issues. Can't be icing the puck every other play.

I am going to say the same thing i said in 2013. (I can't believe those words are going to come out of my mouth, but hey. It's the Leafs.)

You had 3 chances to hold on to this game. three. And you let it blow away. We can throw blame at whomever we want, but I don't think that's the point.. The point is what are you going to do about it. We know what happened five years ago, they basically wilted under the pressure and things had to be blown apart.

You can let this game define you, or you can take this embarrassment (which you should) and let this be what you burn the NHL next year. It's your choice.

and on the 2018 point.
I think Hubris came and gave a right ole smack to Auston Matthews, and a lot of the other players on this team, a well deserved one. (now people will quibble and go - "well this is why people don't talk to the media." well he didn't have to say anything. his play spoke for him, and people can talk about his chances etc - I am sorry great players find a way to get through it. He's injured and he gets a mulligan (a small) one but he was not good enough. SO no, Matthews, "Learning time is not over." and yes "S---t happens." What are you going to do about it next year, because now, no one will care about your points totals next year. Every eye will be on you game 1 next year.

A good team (and that's what they are, remember that in your disappointment), went home today.
but they went home today because they refused to seize the moment.
they went home because they were arrogant and never really applied lessons being taught.
they went home because you know management goofed up.
I expect a lot of hard reflection (by the team) and some difficult (and necessary) moves done by management.

Then we'll see.
but right now I can't even with this team. I can't.

Mass consciousness. You were all waiting for it and you got it.

and now the stupid people are going to be out, so I'm gonna tap out of the boards for a few days the takes on here are going to be scorching hot.
We lost a game 7 with the Bruins almost getting double the amount of shot and 7 games. Team played well though. They deserve to be praised!

Coaches should also be under the microscope. 50 million icings, dump and chase with some of the most skilled players in the game, wingers taking key faceoffs, etc. etc.

Absolutely. I’ve been questioning Babcock for ages now. We have so much talent but handle the puck like a hot potato. We don’t drive possession. It’s all stretch pass and icings like crazy and hope for an odd man rush. I expected so much more.

And then there is always Babcock....not responsible for Gardiner and Andersen, but he still won't go for it..ever..
And I mean Marner,Matthews ( hurt or not) and Nylander.
Down late in game 7 there is no reason not to go with your best 3.....it didn't cost them the series, but his stubborn refusal to even try them will cost them in the future..

Haha and Reimer post start flying. Classic leaf fan over reactions in here. The plug Reimer can’t hold Andersen’s jock strap but you guys keep pining for him and his career high 43 games
Actually I could do without either just responding to a post on it.

Simply put, Andersen let us down tonight and this playoff.

It was a long series and the Leafs had the ability to win it. But their holes were exposed greatly.

Their defense was atrocious and Freddy needed to be more steady.

Lots of growth in this team. Not ready to trade anyone. Need to focus on the back end.

Frustrating to lose, but lets not let frustration make extreme comments.

Back and forth game turns into a 7-4 trouncing. Shows how not ready for the postseason this team is. Get ready for a defensive overhaul. Soft players beware.

Good season everyone (boys+daisy)

maybe, that's the problem
no one was offering anything. i kept saying it this year. like it's pretty hard to trade someone if no one wants them.
