You’re not wrong, but every player has an expected level of performance associated with them. When they fail to achieve it for extended periods of time, they are going to catch heat.

It’s happened with every superstar that has played the game. It’s happened with every player on this team. I can’t be surprised by this nor can I think it’s misguided.

Connor was great today. A couple mistakes/poor decisions but way more involved energetic and creative than in quite a while and could easily have had a couple points.

He drove offense all night and was skating well. Yes too many defensive giveaways, but his wings were garbage in all three zones.

He was stickhandling off scoring chances, being indecisive in money areas and squandering chances himself. he gets into positions for shots and then doesn't shoot. Overall his game was busy but really ineffective.

Is it telling that Drai has scored TWICE as many goals as McD this season? Its shocking even how much disparity.

What stands out to me from tonight’s game was the Oilers energy level. It lasted throughout the entire game tonight. For most of this bad stretch they’ve gone through it’s disappeared before the end of the first period. There were no bad goals against tonight. I’d suggest thats the reason why. They stayed engaged in the game because they didn’t have to deal with the letdown of a goalie letting in a muffin he should have stopped. Skinner gives those up every game. Get rid of him.

McDavid has been terrible defensively this year. I don’t see the point of trying to deny it. His defensive game was coming along pretty nicely the last few years.

Not sure what is going on with him this year but it’s not good.

It’s also not good when your captain is playing such a poor defensive game.

I don't understand the Kane LTIR pool scenario.

He can come back after the regular season since there is no cap after season's end but how can they use that LTIR space when the regular season is still on? Or can they, it's a bit fuzzy to me.
