The Oilers front office after tonight

You know Skinner will get the next game though. And the one after that no matter how he plays

Knob has normally been fairly quick to give Skinner rebound games, but idk about this one.

His fundamentals are in the toilet, and he's already had 2 weeks off to "reset" mentally. They've tried letting him play through it in games and now the only course left is letting him work on it in practice.

The last game was better than the previous 4, and tonight was better than the last game. Still plenty to be improved on, but at least it’s a couple small steps in the right direction.

Game was fairly close, thought the reffing was crap. Picks was the better of the 2 goalies. It was far from perfect, but at least it was better.

Whatever Mcdavid is battling wow is it ugly. That play at the end was beyond gross. Calvin bailed him out big time, that was soooooo bad
It’s just so unlike him. This is not a man who’s used to not being the best, and not being at the top of his game. He’s fighting it big time right now, someone needs to remind who he is and what he is capable of. You don’t expect that play from him at that time of the game.

Pickards net till he has a bad game?
I've been preaching Pikard needs way more starts. He's had the odd bad game but overall he's been fantastic. I don't think he has it to be a starter but Skinner was a backup who got the job originally because Campbell was terrible. Well Skinner has been just as bad so do it all over again. Might as well. Ride Pikard now IMO. At least until management wakes up and gets a true starter. Anyone is better than keeping Skinner in net.

i run them as 60/4o split in favour of whoever is playing better. No reason either of them should be playing 75% of the games. Odds are this is tandem for the playoffs, you don't want to wear out either, or alienate either guy. Like it or not, these are the 2 guys that Edmonton brought to the dance, more than likely it'll be these 2 in the net for the rest of the year.

Hey it's a win and in regulation to boot. I hope they take some positives from this.
First regulation win since Jan 27th.

Of the 16 teams currently in the playoffs 12 of those teams have more regulation wins that the Oilers.
The 3 teams that have less Regulation wins are all wildcard teams.

The Oilers have more wins in Overtime than any other team currently in the playoffs.
Thats is not a good stat....no 3 on 3 in the playoffs.
That suggests that this team is worse than their record indicates.

Everyone else has a better goalie, so we’ve been climbing with one hand tied behind our backs.

Uglyish win. Thought they played well for large stretches, but squandered a lot of scoring chances. Refs decided to call every ticky tack penalty and then just ignored so many blatant hooks and slashes on scoring chances against the Canes. I'll take it honestly, but get this team some deadline boosts. Preferably in net and then anything on top of that is a bonus.

Quality start by Pickard, but I don't want him anywhere near ice level come playoffs

The problem with our roster is we are not built to win 2-1 games, but that is how we play and how we are actually winning.

To be built to win 2-1 games you need a very good goalie.

Go get some more offensive wingers, we have the best Centres in the game.

I mean sure, that's fair, but at least they won those games as opposed to get a giant pile of loser points. The team is flawed, they have to make some changes or risk pissing it all away.

McDavid needs to dig the F in...right F'in now!!
He definitely needs to be better but we are in the doldrums of the season. It's not a big worry for me. If anything I like that without McDavid carrying the play it exposes some of the other players more. It also puts pressure on Bowman to make an impactful deal before the deadline
