Yeah Norris definitely has a chance. He is consistently improving, handles big responsibilities well, and has excellent chemistry with Brady (who is playing really well himself).

I don't understand these 50 player lists. Sweden didn't have Lucas Raymond there. It just does not make sense whatsoever.

Does Usa have any plan B in case the nhl:ers skip the olympics? In 2017 they participated at Deutschland Cup but now they skipped it.

My updated team USA

Debrincat-Matthews-Kane (C)
Gaudreau-Eichel-Guentzel
Connor-Larkin-Wheeler(A)
B.Tkachuk-J.T Miller-Pavelski(A)
M Tkachuk

Fox-McAvoy
Slavin-Carlson(A)
Werenski-S.Jones
Q Hughes

Hellebuyck
Campbell
Gibson

List of potential emergency call-ups for covid/injuries.

Nelson, Norris, Pacioretty, Pionk, Oshie, Terry, McDonagh, Nedeljkovic, J Robertson, Suter, Kreider, Trocheck, Copp, Demko, Rust, Boeser, DeAngelo, Hartman, Zegras, Garland, Milano.

If Wheeler is out for the Olympics I would replace him with Pacioretty.

Pacioretty is starting to seal his place in this team. Of the veterans, at least Pacioretty and Pavelski will probably be on this team and Wheeler is starting to push it too. I guess it is going to be one last hurrah and some younger guys are staying at home. Is it a right or wrong call, lets see?

Locks: Kane, Matthews, Gaudreau, Connor, Larkin, M.Tkachuk, Guentzel, Eichel (if healthy enough)
Likely: Pavelski, Pacioretty, Wheeler, Oshie, DeBrincat, Miller
Maybe: Zegras, Terry, Norris, J.Robertson, Kreider, Garland, B.Tkachuk
Unlikely or Out: Nelson, Trochek. Boeser, Rust, Hartman, Thompson, Milano, Keller, Copp etc.

Somehow there's that feeling again that USA Hockey is going to be loyal to experienced guys.

Pacioretty, Oshie, Pavelski and Wheeler IN
Zegras, Terry/Norris, J.Robertson and B.Tkachuk OUT

Think USA hockey honestly needs to have offense at the pinnacle of their priorities...
K Connor-Mathews-Kane
Gaudreau-Larkin-Debrincat
B.Tkachuck-J.Hughes-M.Tkachuck
Jt Miller-Pavelski-Pacioretty

Fit Eichel in anywhere in there if healthy. (Would be nice to slot in Larkin's spot)
Ex: (Mix of:) 1.Oshie 2.Terry 3.Nelson 4.Robertson 5.Guentzel 6.Boeser 7.Alex Tuch (If Healthly) 8.Zegras 9.Wheeler
Also think J.Hughes just buzzes with better players... Doesnt have numbers but just controls the game when 100%.
(But could also see them opting for more veterans for some reason)

Defense
Slavin-Mcavoy
Werenski-Fox
McDonagh-J.Carlson

Extra: Q.Hughes- Jones

(Maybe Suter or Pesce) but less questions around D than Offense

It is too bad Greenway hasn't played better this year, he performed admirably for Team USA in 2018. His big frame would have been welcomed on team USA. But he hasn't done enough to merit any looks this time around.

Didn't see a thread so making one. I feel like this roster is going to be incredibly hard to whittle down. There are so many more options since our last best on best, so many young guys who have broken through, and a good amount of vets still sticking around and producing still (Pavelski, Pacioretty, Wheeler). There's probably 20ish deserving forwards and a lot of tough cuts. I can see arguments for all the guys I listed in my forward lineup. Defense is a little more straight forward, feel like theres an established top 8 guys or so (RD heavy for sure). Two goalies are no brainers.

Bolded are locks to make the team. Rest of the names listed in the lineup are guys who will have good arguments/ deserving to make the team. Longshots are unlikely, but not impossible one of them might end up in discussion. Also dont look into the line combinations, mostly just listing guys without too much thought on order.

M. Tkachuk
- Matthews - Kane
Gaudreau
- Eichel - Boeser
Connor
- Larkin - Guentzel
B. Tkachuk - Hughes - Wheeler
Miller - Trocheck - DeBrincat
Pacioretty - Pavelski - Rust

Longshots: Tuch, Hayes, JVR, Atkinson, Garland, Farabee, Lee, Nelson, Kessel, Oshie, Kreider

Hughes - Carlson
Werenski - Jones
Slavin - McAvoy
Krug - Petry
Suter - Fox

Longshots: Pionk, Marino, Pesce, McDonagh, Yandle, Faulk

Hellebuyck
Gibson

Demko
Bishop

This team doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell against Canada lol. Sheesh. Too bad some bigger Americans couldn't have performed better and been on this team (Greenway, Coyle, Donato).

I would’ve loved a line of Brady Tkachuk - JT Miller/Norris - Hartman

They would be a terror to play against.

How about a fourth line of

Brock Nelson
Anders Lee
Charlie Coyle

?

I like Nelson a lot and would be comfortable with him in a 4th line role on the team. Lee is a fine player but I just don't think he brings enough to the table to make an Olympic team. If you want to add a big, average skating guy I'd rather go with Jason Robertson who is more offensively gifted. Coyle is another guy that just isn't good enough for a best-on-best tournament and doubt he is under consideration.

Here's my current team (25 man roster):

Defense (x8):

Forwards (x14):

Kyle Connor-J.T. Miller-Brady Tkachuk

I really like! I really think we need to keep Brady Tkachuk and Norris together then pair them with someone like Kreider or Pavelski. Our only natural RW is Kane, and Matthew Tkachuk has looked great at RW. I don't see why Connor/Patches wouldn't be fine on the RW as they are both lefties with wicked shots and guys like that usually play their off wing. Then there are more straight line guys like Guentzel, Kreider and Brady Tkachuk who could do just fine on their off wing too. Also, Debrincat is right handed (our only one minus Pavelski or Trochek), but has really on played the LW. Another thing to think about is that we have Pavelski or Trochek as our only right handed faceoff guys. Which players do you think would do best on their off wing (right side) and do any have significant experience?

As a Caps fan I love Carlson, but with Fox/McAvoy as right handed PP specialists that are significantly stronger skaters and defensively we do not need him. I would prefer Trouba/Pesce. Are there any other strong D men that are strong on both or their off side?

Gaudreau - JT Miller - M. Tkachuk
Connor/Patches - Larkin - Pavelski
Kreider - Norris - B. Tkachuk

If Eichel plays then move JT Miller down to center or wing on the 4th line...

Gaudreau - M. Tkachuk
Connor - Wheeler
B. Tkachuk - Norris
Robertson - Pavelski

Slavin - McAvoy
McD - Fox
Werenski - Jones
Hughes/Hanifin - Pesce/Trouba

Is it just me, or is this team not as sexy as our 2010 team?

For all the talk of how the game has grown in USA, and it definitely has, I don't think this team is going to be as good as our Silver 2010 club.

I think there are more USA players (percentage) than ever before in the NHL, and more ##1 overalls (Kane, Matthews, Hughes) than ever, but I still think that 2010 was better than what we can assenble currently.

Maybe I am wrong about that. I loved our 2010 team.

Granted Quick and Miller in their prime was great, but..
