After reading some of these posts, I think some might mistake the thread title .
It’s about Team Toughness in a Hockey Forum, not the NBA Forum.
No matter what some may think, when you hit someone, it’s with the intent to knock them on their ass and out of the play.
When you’re hitting someone, obviously you aren’t trying to concuss your opponent but make no mistake, you have every intention on cleaning their clock.
It’s why players are taught from day one to keep their head up.
Add to that the speed in which the game is played so while you’re trying time your hits, you have to make them count.
Whether you’re trying to take someone out of the play, force someone off of the puck, wearing down defenders on the forecheck, board battles..etc..
The intent is to drill said opponent and hit them hard.
Hitting by definition is to “cause harm or distress to”.
That means you hit someone HARD and with a purpose.
To reference a quote from JD, BC..
“We take the shortest route to the puck and arrive in ill humor”
That is hockey folks, otherwise it would be called Golf
