Yeah I forgot Heim.

Don't think Frick is in risk, he was so solid in all games, without any mistakes. That's what you need as #5 or #6.

There are current 15 forwards, +2 joining makes 17. You can have 22 players, which is probably 8+14. So at least 3 forwards are going to get cut on Sunday.

By the way, every NHL-player who is available commited to the team. Even RFA and UFA. And that's pretty amazing.

I didn't realise Simion and Herzog weren't listed among the 15 forwards so you're right, that will be 3 or 4 cuts depending on Kurashev. Heim, Eggenberger and Künzle are the most likely I think, then probably Miranda.

Frick is safe I think. With his hability to handle the puck under pressure he fits Fischer's system pretty well.

Updates for the next two games in Sweden:

In for Sweden games:
Nico Hischier
Denis Malgin
Christian Marti
Timo Meier
Jonas Siegenthaler
Pius Suter

Out:
Simon Le Coultre
Killian Mottet

After Sweden the following players will also join:
Leonardo Genoni
Dario Simion
Fabrice Herzog

Not at the WC will be:
Sven Andrighetto (hip injury)
Denis Hollenstein (knee injury)
Yannick Weber (foot injury)
Gregory Hofmann (coaches decision)

Updated roster for Sweden games below.

I am biased but really disappointed for Mottet, he always plays his heart out and would have definatley taken him over guys like Miranda, Künzle or Eggenberger, but the decision is not going to change the outcome of our tournament.
It's a shame the 3 Zurich guys are injury, could really have used them. Hofmann had a weird year, really disappointing start in the NHL, great when he came back, bad Olympics, ok-ish Playoffs but nothing great. The break could really do wonders to him.

Goalies (2): Sandro Aeschlimann (HC Davos), Reto Berra (Fribourg-Gottéron)

Defenders (9): Dominik Egli (HC Davos), Michael Fora (HC Ambri-Piotta), Lukas Frick (Lausanne HC), Andrea Glauser (Lausanne HC), Dean Kukan (Columbus Blue Jackets), Christian Marti (ZSC Lions), Janis Moser (Arizona Coyotes), Romain Loeffel (HC Lugano), Jonas Siegenthaler (New Jersey Devils)

Forwards (15): Andres Ambühl (HC Davos), Christoph Bertschy (Lausanne HC), Enzo Corvi (HC Davos), Nando Eggenberger (SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers), André Heim (HC Ambri-Piotta), Nico Hischier (New Jersey Devils), Mike Künzle (EHC Biel-Bienne), Denis Malgin (ZSC Lions), Timo Meier (San Jose Sharks), Marco Miranda (Genève-Servette HC), Damien Riat (Lausanne HC), Noah Rod (Genève-Servette HC), Tristan Scherwey (SC Bern), Pius Suter (Detroit Red Wings), Calvin Thürkauf (HC Lugano)
And where is Phillip Kurashev ?

And where is Phillip Kurashev ?
Kurashev has a positive covid-test. It will be monitored if he can join or not (probably depending on how fast he tests negative).

Hofmann, well, he wasn't fresh in the playoffs. He didn't play very well at the Olympics. He's still a good player but he may be a better player in one years time if he gets a rest this mai. And with 4 or even 5 nhl-forwards available this year this could be a wise decision.

The whole problem of Swiss ice hockey is very well visible after each nomination, each cut by the discussions on social media and in the media. It's not about the best possible roster, it's always about why there isn't any player of my team on the roster, Mottet has been cut because he's from Fribourg, etc.
If you want to move hockey forward you have to stop thinking about teams.

I'm not sure it's that different in other countries to be honest, but yes, the level of discussion surrounding these nominations and cuts is just terrible.

But people would find a reason to be pissed anyway, a coach can do one thing and an other coach the exact opposite and both will trashed.

Does anybody know a way to watch today’s and tomorrow’s game without having to buy a mysports membership?

If Sweden and Switzerland play against each other again, the Swiss should not reject the position of favorite. The first third showed why, four chances and two goals in Sweden's goal. Switzerland works perfectly well, they have a game system, they are patient enough and they manage to skate with the Swedes. And the big weapons for the power play are Meier and Hischier, those cross passes on both sides are illegible, they both can shoot great and the opponent does not know which side the shot will come from.

But i feel like the swiss roster is nearly complete on the other hand the swede roster is missing most of the nhl players but if we get Josi we could definitely have a chance against sweden‘s complete roster

The problem is that Sweden will probably not receive any significant reinforcements. Maybe Ullmark if Boston fails, Zibanejad could come too, and in my opinion Eriksson Ek is still a real start if Wild fails. The rest of the players did not intervene in the playoffs, are injured or do not have a contract and these players do not go to this tournament without a contract. So you know that this list against Switzerland is 75% the one with which Garpenlöv will go to the tournament. A total of 17 players refused to play in the tournament, and it is difficult for Sweden to build a competitive team that would win the quarterfinals. Offensive lines are not good enough.

Another third period spent under pressure in the defensive zone after taking a lead early, this is a very worrying trend.

Not much to say apart from that. I wonder if it's the plan to keep Riat with Hischier and Meier, or if one of Suter, Herzog or Simion will take his spot. The Scherwey - Thürkauf - Bertschy line could very well be the 4th line at the WC too, but hard to predict which wingers will play with Corvi and Malgin. Malgin played with Suter and Ambühl in the past, and also with Herzog if I'm not mistaken, while Corvi played with Simion last year. Then there's still the possibility that Kurashev joins. Eggenberger played well so he might have a shot at a spot too.

I'm also surprised that Kukan played on the second PP instead of Loeffel. Glauser had a decent game I thought, but I'm still worried by the defense.

Interesting what are names that could’ve gone who declined? I can only think of elias pettersson of the top of my head who really is a star and would be availabe.

The ones under contract, and declined without an injury: Anton Forsberg, Pettersson, William Karlsson, Nyquist, Raymond, Lindblom, Johnsson, & Wennberg.

Bratt, Janmark, Jesper Boqvist, Lundeström, Dahlén, Rask, Loui Eriksson, Olofsson, Brännström, & Strålman all declined due to being FAs.

Tackat nej

Alexander Wennberg, Seattle Kraken
Gustav Nyquist, Columbus Blue Jackets
Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks
Lucas Raymond, Detroit Red Wings
Anton Forsberg, Ottawa Senators
Oskar Lindblom, Philadelphia Flyers
William Karlsson, Vegas Golden Knights
Andreas Johnsson, New Jersey Devils

Skadade

Nils Höglander, Vancouver Canucks
Jakob Silfverberg, Anaheim Ducks
Oskar Sundqvist, Detroit Red Wings
Erik Karlsson, San Jose Sharks
Robin Lehner, Vegas Golden Knights

Utan kontrakt

Jesper Bratt, New Jersey Devils
Mattias Janmark, Vegas Golden Knights
Jesper Boqvist, New Jersey Devils
Isak Lundeström, Anaheim Ducks
Jonathan Dahlén, San Jose Sharks
Victor Rask, Seattle Kraken
Loui Eriksson, Arizona Coyotes
Victor Olofsson, Buffalo Sabres
Erik Brännström, Ottawa Senators
Anton Strålman, Arizona Coyotes

Thats all players missing. Erik Karlsson is still a star. Jesper Bratt has become one. Raymond, Wennberg, Andreas Johnsson, Olofsson, William Karlsson, Nyqvist would really help our team, good players, thought not stars.

Playoffs: Hedman is a superstar, Tampa is down 2-1. He has contract.

Sweden is only missing Dahlin and Larsson in this game.
2 key players.

Thanks for the list. I always thought that the swedish Nhl players had more interest in playing in the WC than american or Canadian ones but thats many declines even with contract and without injury.

Yeah, you understand Lindblom as he not that long ago had a battle with cancer, though.

Switzerland is certainly assembling quite the team here and with Nashville down 3:0 already, it seems very likely that the roster is going to get even more impressive.

Is there any possibility that a spot would be kept open for Fiala or Niederreiter should their seasons come to an early conclusion? Of course, neither player has a contract for next season.

They will definitely keep roster spots open, Fischer's goal is to win the gold medal and he always keeps spots open for NHL players even if they join only for the quarterfinals
