So what can we hope for?

Best case scenario right now, assuming Boston, Blues, Columbus, Colorado, Carolina, Islanders, Dallas, Sharks gets kicked out:

Lehner
Nilsson
Markström

OEL - Hjalmarsson
Klefbom - E.Karlsson
Dahlin - A.Larsson

Landeskog - Söderberg - Marcus Johansson
Janmark - Pettersson - Bratt
Lindblom - A.Kempe - Sundqvist
Sörensen - Lander/Josefson - Eriksson Ek

E.Karlsson 0% chance to go ... replace him Gustafson who is by the way confirmed and had great season

That top-six is not good enough, especially not Söderberg as 1C and the linemates for Pettersson. I'd easily wait out the second round if that's what we're working with. Too many checking role type of players in one lineup with weeks to go before the first game. We need more creativity than that.

Johansson, Sundqvist, & E.Karlsson are UFAs(hence I didn't include them in my earlier summary). And of course Pettersson would be 1C over Söderberg.

Best case scenario Caps, Pens, & Preds lose first or second round, and Flames/Avs lose to Vegas/Sharks in the second round.

Would make Bäckström, Hörnqvist, Forsberg, Arvidsson, Landeskog, E.Lindholm, & Backlund available @ forwards.

Edit: oh, and forgot Toronto with Nylander.

Why is everyone so down on this roster? Seems fine to me for a WHC squad. It's not like other countries won't have turndowns, injuries or players with no contract too.

Goaltending is already an upgrade from last year, and if OEL says yes and we get Klingberg after round 1 I'd say the defense is improved from last year too. The forward side is worse but all in all we have a good chance to put up an equally good team as the last two years.

People are spoiled from the previous 2 years. Also people here tend to get negative real quick.

Markström is in.

Looks like Bratt might be available.

The way the team looks right now he would be the second best offensive forward and the best defensive forward, would be a very good addition. (Assuming Pettersson is in)

Pettersson, & Bratt would be one deadly duo. Only need a goalscorer to play with them and that could be a really dangerous line.

The Locker Room Clean Out Day interview with Bratt has been released here:

At 03:29 he gets the question about Worlds and says if he gets asked he will go and play.

Too bad both Zibanejad and Rakell have declined on forward (they were awesome last year) and sad to not be able to watch Lindholm. Hopefully Ekman-Larsson will accept, we need another good puck mover back there. It will be interesting to watch Gustafsson play on big ice.

But, Pettersson and Dahlin will be a treat to watch (good experience for them) and Markström is good enough to win gold in net.

And come on, ask Bratt! He's certainly good enough to play on this team.

Only want Lindblom & Pettersson from that group. Also, Kempe (the younger one). The rest are SHL-quality.

You're seriously underrating Olofsson then, have you seen him shoot the puck? Most Sabres fans have him on the top line next season. I'd be happy with him on the team even after the first SC round.

I've seen him shoot the puck. In fact, I watched almost all of his games last season. He'll be pushed to the outside and completely disappear 5 on 5 against the better teams.

I was about to say he would be a great asset on the PP in particular, his shot really is that good. The rest of the time, just put him on the 4th line.
