I am glad to see that Chabot had a big game last night. Regarding the discussion of Chabot, he would not be out of place on one of Canada's lower lines. Consider that Matheson thrived on Canada's third pairing in 2016. I'm quite confident that Chabot could have similar success. Additionally, Chabot is a guy who really seems to care about international hockey. I recall before the 2017 WJC that he was one of the Canadian players (possibly the only, in my recollection) who said that he rated winning an Olympic gold medal above winning the Stanley Cup.
Regarding O'Reilly, I really think that he is a huge addition. For the sake of transparency I will concede that he has been one of my favourite players for years, but really I think that he has been huge for Canada in each of the last three years at this tournament. He's the best Swiss army knife player Canada could pick - he can play centre or wing, dominate on faceoffs, play PP or PK, shut down the opposition or score goals at basically a 30 goal pace. In 2015 he played on Canada's two way line with Giroux and Seguin and thrived (including PK and PP), in 2016 he played on Canada's shutdown line with Scheifele and Stone and thrived, and last year he was Canada's best player in the elimination games. Great player for Canada.
