WC: TEAM CANADA 2023

I wish that this year Canadians would finally stop hating the Finns (and stop with the xenophobia), but as we already know the Finns will again be hated and the refs will be certainly blamed for no good reason. It's the nature of certain people.

I really couldn't care less about the Finns.

A country that values hockey as much as Canada does, always works hard and often plays above the individual talent on their roster.

There's the Russians, there's the Americans, and there's everyone else.

That's just the way the rivalries are.

I am wondering how many Canadian players looked at the map where Latvia is, and said "damn, that's next to Russia, I am not going there, what if something bad happened with the security situation?" I mean, nothing bad is going to happen, but obviously the players usually don't know much about the actual situation in Europe.

Hopefully more great players will come to Prague next year.
I would be shocked if pretty much any Canadian NHLers cared about the international security situation as it pertains to Latvia. They might look at a map and say "where is Latvia" but that's about it.

Maybe, I don't know. I just remembered that guy who was caring about security situation in the Czech Rep., and was wondering.

O.K, it's not exactly the lineup we had envisioned and it doesn't contain even a single big name but it's the team we've got, need to get behind them and see what they can do.

I think they hit the ice against Hungary today, will have to check that out.

I wish there was a way to watch that game today. Does anyone know of a site for this game?

Here we go, Hungarian players all smiles heading on the ice, packed crowd by the looks of it too.

Wonder where the game is taking place?

With Bedard going to Chicago, we can pencil him on next year's Prague Powerhouse team. He'll be lining up with Johnson McTavish. Looking forward to it.

Oh, and calling it now. Chychrun will take a pass as he'll be nursing an injury since mid-November to the end of the 2023-'24 season.

Yet to find his game legs that's all.

And.............................................. big looch with a fine finesse touch pass to Blais to knot things up!!

Already showing his worth on this squad!!

It just took some bagging on him to get him going. I will take all the credit.

I knew I could count on you:thumbu:

Some guy on the Hungarian team, every time they say his name it sounds exactly like " dipshits"

I did drill down to the Hockey Canada link - Élő

Just had to accept the cookies, then go find the sports link and the game was half way off the browser in the top scroll bar.

2-1 courtesy of Mr Cody Glass.

I can't believe we're getting to see Lucic on an international ice surface at his age.

It's giving me Jason Allison on his shootout attempt vibes.
Having said that Allison had some great moments for us on the big ice, he was fantastic in leading us to gold at the WJC on it.

I wonder if Celebrini will be there too.

Why would Celebrini be there? He's not a McDavid/Crosby/Bedard level of prospect. I don't any reason why that 17 year undrafted player (currently 16 years old) to be included. Come on, get serious.

Myers positioning remains one of the great mysteries of the world. Him taking the Hungarian right point as the guy he decided to cover there was... interesting.

Fantilli isn't either but he's here, with the response we got from NHL players this year this might become more common, who knows?

I know it's a preparation game but Hungary isn't looking bad at all, decent skating in particular. I was expecting them to look lost on the NHL sized rink which requires much more skill with the puck as well as agility on the skates (acceleration, stopping, changes of speed...), but they look quite OK. Of course the Canadians aren't giving everything into the game, that's pretty obvious.
