Pitiful roster yet they'll still finish ahead of your team, how sad is that?
You mean like they finished "ahead" of them last year at the Olympics?

Perhaps your obvious disappointment is better directed at the multitude of players who declined to participate than the country as a whole. Nevertheless there’s enough young talent to make it an interesting watch for Canadian fans. Who knows, maybe Lucic can catch up to one of those international stars and make them regret they didn’t follow the path of so many Canadian players who chose to opt out.Canada deserves to get beat up badly with this pitiful roster for disrespecting the world's premier international hockey tournament.
Now there was a premier international tournament if ever there was one. Everyone loaded up for that showcase. You mean like they finished "ahead" of them last year at the Olympics?
The roster is not so bad when you consider the rest of the teams here and what they are bringing. The big thing is the lack of preparation and they will need 3-4 games to get things together as usual. If there is not a true best-on-best tournament anymore (last one was in 2014), then I would have thought that players, who are healthy and available, will take this as a great and basically only one opportunity to represent their country on currently best international tournament. That's how I see it.
It is indeed disappointing to not see at lest a few star players. The roster is at least young and skilled and mixed with some solid veterans who will work hard. I think they will do well, and there will be additions.
Last years loss to Finland in overtime was really due to a really bad call by the officials awarding Finland a penalty in overtime. The high stick against A finish player by a Canadian stick that really wasn’t a Canadian stick. Or something like that. Just an awful call. Am I remembering correctly?
the scenario with the stick is correct but I wouldn't say it cost us the game as we tied Finland up and sent the game to o.t. Chabots penalty in that overtime really was the ultimate culprit and while the Finnish player embellished for sure it hardly matterred because it would have been called a penalty over there irregardless if he had or not.Last years loss to Finland in overtime was really due to a really bad call by the officials awarding Finland a penalty in overtime. Given there is a missing nation right now, they really should invite Canada to the Czech games to give them a few exhibition games. Due to the timing and travel, I'd expect Canada to lose but it'd get them rolling for the World's! If they put it on TSN it might get a few daytime watchers to before the Stanley Cup playoff matchups! Eg. I'm watching the Sweden game and then My oilers a few hours (and beers) later. Win - win. Only reason I could see it not working is if Canada declines because they just don' twant to come to Europe so early. The roster is not so bad when you consider the rest of the teams here and what they are bringing. About to settle in here and watch Czechs vs Sweden now, would like to be watching Canada in these team building games but we don't have them. We will have a few practices and the throw the guys to the wolves but we will be o.k once we get things sorted out.

Nope, last year at the World Championships bub, that’s what this tournament isYou mean like they finished "ahead" of them last year at the Olympics?
I mean that's like your thing in international hockey. The team is thrown together with little time to train together (especially compared to European teams who have been running camps for weeks at this point) so they look a bit off at first but then they get going after a few games in the group stage. Once quarterfinals come around Canada is game. The roster is not so bad when you consider the rest of the teams here and what they are bringing. No that's not the call and even though some Canadians still want to hate Finland and act like it was so horrible from the refs there was a legit penalty on that play (that to my surprise a few good and normal Canadians agreed with at that time, wish it was a more common thing) but the high sticking was called. So a wrong call but there should've been one anyway for holding iirc. And the hate and crying about a penalty that happened in OT that shouldn't have even gone to OT still makes me laugh. Anyone with any self respect would remember and agree how a Canadian pushed Heiskanen face first into the goalpost/crossbar, moving the goal and resulting in a goal for Canada somehow. Still makes me wonder how that is allowed.Last years loss to Finland in overtime was really due to a really bad call by the officials awarding Finland a penalty in overtime. The McTavish miracle at the World Juniors was more than enough of a trade off for me. If the hockey gods have to give us one, I'll take the WJR's EVERY time.the scenario with the stick is correct but I wouldn't say it cost us the game as we tied Finland up and sent the game to o.t. Wasn't much they could do last year, Chabot got his stick in the legs of the Finnish player in overtime, it's gonna get called every time. The McTavish miracle at the World Juniors was more than enough of a trade off for me. If the hockey gods have to give us one, I'll take the WJR's EVERY time.
I just don't like the embellishment.Wasn't much they could do last year, Chabot got his stick in the legs of the Finnish player in overtime, it's gonna get called every time.
Just an unfortunate play.
Pretty much all players do that now....................which I think is the saddest part.I just don't like the embellishment.
I really don't see it with North American players but... you might be right. I saw Knies do it in the playoffs and it was shameful. If I wanted to watch soccer, I'd watch soccer.Pretty much all players do that now....................which I think is the saddest part.
