When I first saw it it looked somewhat legit but at second glance Heatley and Phanuef threw me off. Richards as well given hes basically completely disconnected from hockey

Side note - Power at his age playing in the WHC and Olympics before getting to the NHL is something that we likely won't see for a while. IIRC Lindros did the Canada Cup + Olympics before his debut.

(without checking I imagine Russia had some younger KHL guys who've done so already but a much different situation)

Oh, I can’t believe I fell for it for even a second. Willful suspension of disbelief. And why the hell would I want to see that disaster?

On Power, though, that’s not a stretch. Sanderson is going for the USA.

That's not the real roster. Given that Shane Doan was just announced as the Team Canada GM and Claude Julien the coach it might take a few more days (or longer) for the team to be announced.

Blatantly obvious? Then why has Staal laced up for Iowa the other day, his health?
I can’t decide, I wonder if they announce on HNIC tonight.
Methot posted this

I think he’s trolling, because on his podcast it didn’t sound like it, even tho it was discussed.

Fred Braithwaite has been retired for like a decade, it's pretty obvious the roster is a joke if you look at the goalies then just continue to look up the roster. Nigel Dawes hasn't been able to play for Canada for many years now as he didn't even lace up for the team in 2018. Phaneuf, Bieksa, O'Brien, Mitchell, Methot have all been retired for many years as well. At forward add Dany Heatley, Versteeg, Tootoo, Richard, Winnik, Lupul, etc as guys who have been retired for a lot of years too. I don't know how anyone can take this roster seriously if they've been following hockey at all somewhat seriously and used any critical thinking to realize it's a huge joke. Eric Staal last played in the NHL in the summer. A lot different situation.

Nigel Dawes isn't even able to play for Canada anymore, he's a Kazakhstan national for IIHF purposes

This is probably what my Olympic team would look like if NHLers were going, accepting what we knew of the long list. Pairings and lines wouldn't be rigid. Can't say that I'm all that impressed, even with my own team.

Tavares McDavid Stamkos
Huberdeau MacKinnon Stone
Marchand Crosby Bergeron
O’Reilly Point Kyrou
Couturier Marner

Pelech Makar
Theodore Ekblad
Chabot Pietrangelo
