I've read a lot of comments about how nobody cares about this tournament because there are no NHLers. Sure I'm pissed about it too, but do people not realise most Europeans watch European hockey leagues more than they watch the NHL?
It's not a tournament for beer leaguers nobody's ever heard of just because North Americans haven't heard of them.
Finland and Canada had two very close WHC finals in a row where Canada was filled with NHL players while Finland mostly had players from Europe.
I think it is a small section of Leaf fans... Eg. NHL fans (could be OIl, Flmes, Nucks). I'm not kidding when I say Canada and Finland could make the gold medal game at these Olympics and those posters will come to the GDT and let us know they are not watching, then create a Team Canada A roster and then create a Team Canada B roster all while the actual Team Canada is playing for gold.lol
I still remember the last U18 in Texas where Canada was winning by touchdowns...
In the round robin they won 12-1 against Sweden, 4-2 against Latvia, 7-0 against Switzerland and 5-2 over Belarus for an absolutely amazing +24 in FOUR games.
Those same posters were coming on, clearly not watching the game and saying how unfair it was that the players from the Q were not on Team Canada.lol
Canada won the quarters 10-3 against the Czechs, the semis 8-1 against Sweden and then the finals 5-3 over Russia. They scored 23 goals in the 3 medal round games!!! +19. Went undefeated and were plus 43 in 7 games. But posters (certain ones because I like Canadian hockey and the actual fans) were on here complaing that they were missing a few guys. Pretty sure that team had Wright and Bedard.
Even if the Olympics had been best on best.. there would've been the Team Canada B thread with those same posters. Then, IF Canada did not win... there would be about 100 posts saying it wasn't fair because one player was hurt/missing/not selected.
Hockey card collectors that don't watch the game and just want to brag about having the shiniest toys! And, to be clear, I'm talking about a small section of fans that come on here and clearly have no idea what international hockey is. They watch the JRs at Xmas and the Stanley Cup playoffs. They will, with a straight face, say that it's not fair because McDavid isn't going while, amazingly, missing that Pastrnak, Ovi, Drai, Rantanan or Matthews aren't going either.
The amzing thing about Finland to me was that you had a good chance at gold at best on best and a good chance at gold now. Must be nice!
I also love all the posters that don't watch so assume no one is watching.lol For instance, I don't know what the hell Squid game is but that doesn't mean people aren't watching it.lol In Canada TSN broadcasts every single game for all 3 weeks. It's a great feed and a really well presented product but I keep reading how no one is watching. Or how most World's have record attendance every year but no one cares.
