And I get that part of it. But I also believe he did want to stay. He said it himself that it tore him up. The blame really fans on the Islanders here though. The arenas, the uncertainty, the GM, the coach etc. It was a disaster of a franchise with no stability.
and if you go to the Islanders board they endlessly rip Snow/Wang for the mess they created and that's why they wouldn't have had a problem if JT informed the team/fan base he wasn't re signing before the t/d

however according to them JT gave every impression he was coming back and that's why they're pissed , can't blame them tbh , i'd feel the same way if i was in their shoes

I think if you're the GM it's on you to trade the guy if you aren't certain he's coming back. Tavares maybe indicated he would but he never signed anything. They also fired the GM and coach, two people he liked, right before free agency. That had to play a part but it's been swept under the rug for the time being. I'm sure the truth will come out eventually.

yup it's on mgmt to make the decision to trade him but they were saying JT said before the t/d the door to him re singing was wide open but would slam shut if they did deal him which put the team in a no win situation

The GM/Coach were incompetent and deserved to be fired so i highly doubt that's the reason he didn't re sign especially since he keeps saying he wants to win .

anyway , how and why he left means little to me , all i care about is how he plays here and how the team does

Lol, something tells me Josh Ho-Sang ain’t gone come out rocking #66 anymore :laugh:

oh yeah. would love to see how ho-sang handles that. There is no way he is keeping it he isn't even a NHL player. But I think he will be gone before training camp Lou wont suffer that kid for long, unless he has changed his ways of course

When the Leafs were bad I used to make ridiculous trades with our roster on playstation. I always liked to put local kids on the team. My 1st line was usually Stamkos/Tavares/Seguin. Still can't believe we actually got one of them.
It's due to people like you, (and almost every other Leaf fan) propagating the "home town" narrative that led to the Tavares signing. Without you this would not have been possible. :thumbu:

True but Hallaway would not resign because he wanted to win. Nobody begrudged him.

The difference between Bosch and JT is that Raps were not a tire fire when Bosch left. I think JT gave the Isles every chance to resign him and in the end he was tired of losing. Bosch was also not asked to play home games in Hamilton and Oshawa.
Are you calling him Bosch because he's a complete tool? Or is it just a typo? Either way, I lol'd

The big problem is fans think players should always value organizational loyalty over their own careers, even if the team continuously makes horrible decisions. JT gave the Islanders 9 seasons and has nothing to show for it.

Tavares did a phone interview on Tim and Sid.

Tavares on pressure and expectations in Toronto:

"If you can't handle certain things that come with playing in the NHL, whether it's the media or expectations or anything, then maybe this isn't the right league for you."

:handclap::handclap:
How do I hear that interview??
