Everyone on HFboards is now telling me that the leafs defence is atrocious and that Freddy Andersen is a below average goalie. How in the hell did the leafs end up with 105 points last season then?

HFBoard posters have moved passed the shock stage and are currently at anger. It's only going to get better as we shore up our defence tear up teams this year. What a time to be a Leafs fan...

GO LEAFS GO!

The Leafs could win the Cup, and there would be about half of the main board posters being all like "Yeah, well, the Leafs aren't good enough to repeat or win it again, and be an ACTUAL good team like Pittsburgh, Chicago, and LA were!"

no I don't think he is going to ask for that but a big season could put him at that point, 6x$6.6 if he puts up 80-90 points this year with JT? im not sure about that. I hope we can keep him under Draisaitl.

everyone knows JT took less, so for the betterment of the team, they all have a responsibility to do the same

if they don't, well, Dubas will sort it out and he will deal with it as he does best

seriously expect this to happen when we win. Or "the real cup final was the west final and they beat each other up so the leafs had it easy they aren't the best team this year"

because I heard all 3 of them asked their GM not to trade them at the deadline, knowing they were going to walk in the off season. Leaf fans are livid

Ahhh...Let's not go teasing NYI fans...what happen from their view really REALLY stings.

I was just a little kid back then. What stung about VC leaving was the he went from scoring 15 a game in Toronto and not utilizing his athleticism to a 25 point per game guy with electrifying athleticism in NJ.
Maybe Tavares can restore balance to the universe and suddenly develop Kapanen wheels now that he's in Toronto

lol yeah, they have gone from having a below average defence (which is true) to having the worst in the league.

It's closer to Vince Carter leaving than any of those guys, and Raptors fans reacted pretty similarly from what I remember

Some Isles fans are going way overboard (like some Leafs fans did when they were sending death threats to Jake Gardiner after Game 7), and I'm sure some people will boo him for the next few games in Long Island or whatever but I think most of them will probably get over it in time.

Yeah we did not handle Bosch leaving well but that is because he was not forthright and he tanked when we were in a fight for a playoff spot if I recall correctly. He probably had an agreement with Lebron to sign in Miami. Nobody cried when Halladay wanted to leave cause he wanted to win.

Time heals all wounds.

We're the Yankees (without the success). Biggest fanbase in the league...get the most media attention...so we obvious attract the most haters. It's cool to hate what's popular. Leafs have owned the hockey world the past 2-3 days with Tavares so clearly the haters will find the weaknesses on the team and amplify them way worse than they actually are.

Are the Leafs strong defensively? No. But it's not just the D-men. The forwards need to be tougher and more responsible defensively? Letting JVR and Bozak walk actually helps. They were both weak defensively...especially JVR. JT is not great...but he is responsible in the D-zone. Freddie runs hot and cold. He was awful in October...then got red hot for a few months...then was lousy in March again and hit and miss in the playoffs. Ideally his game gets more consistent and we have a backup that we can rely on for a few more regular reason games so Freddie doesn't wear down in April/May.

what like 4 cups in a row during my life time???????????????

i have never seen my team play 1 game IN THE FINALS and i'm 54.

they get nothing from me.

Yeah and our classic games are all in black and white. They at least had the Trottier, Bossy, Gillies dynasty.

yes I know I would be hurting as well. One thing I'm still waiting for is a link supporting their claim that "Tavares asked Snow to not be traded at the deadline" Seems to me that someone posted this and everyone's treating it as gospel.

Halladay didn't leave , he told the team he wasn't going to re sign and allowed mgmt to trade him .

Bosh like JT led their respective teams and fan bases on pretending they wanted to stay . Bosh especially pissed on the franchise since it long rumored he was going with LeBron to Miami to join Wade .

True but Hallaway would not resign because he wanted to win. Nobody begrudged him.

The difference between Bosch and JT is that Raps were not a tire fire when Bosch left. I think JT gave the Isles every chance to resign him and in the end he was tired of losing. Bosch was also not asked to play home games in Hamilton and Oshawa.

all 3 left because they wanted to win but only one told there team he was leaving and allowed them to recoup a few assets

also the Islander fans aren't pissed he left , most felt he should go to try to win in his prime , what they're pissed about is they feel he not only did he lead them on but that he also went out of his way to pressure mgmt not to trade him

And I get that part of it. But I also believe he did want to stay. He said it himself that it tore him up. The blame really fans on the Islanders here though. The arenas, the uncertainty, the GM, the coach etc. It was a disaster of a franchise with no stability.
