Didn't Hughes say he wanted to be under the cap without putting Price on LTIR? I am not an expert on Cap rules but I was under the impression adding to the cap at this time right before training camp makes little sense. For a 3rd?
Montreal has a lot players that can send down without going through waivers the day before the season starts as a paper transaction so they can be under the cap without Price going on LTIR before the season begins

Interesting move. Added a 3rd and a guy they can trade for a pick at the TDL (if healthy). He’s probably in and out of the lineup all season and that may help him stay healthy. Could gain some momentum from that. 3rd is a decent dart.. top 75-100 ish

If no other moves, I’m guessing they gave up on Price going to LTIR before the season starts?

I don't see why people are upset? Yeah, it's a sideways move but every time he does a sideways ove, he gets a pick thrown in too.

So we traded one of 4 goalies for a another shitty forward. What's the difference? DeSmith wasn't going to play here anyway. If Pearson doesn't play either... so what. We still have another pick. You build through the draft.

I think the bottom line here is, when you think you know how to manage the cap, none of us really do..............strange eh....
If Servelli says so..............

Perspective eh.............10 years of Bergevin, has everyone react way too quickly.
Hard to let go the Rinse and Repeat Era.

We acquired Monahan, who was a negative value for CGY.
We traded Hoffman who has negative value.
We traded Pitlick who went unclaimed on waiver.
We traded Poehling.
We have 2.3M for two years on our cap.

For this package we received :

1st RD pick.
2nd RD pick
3rd RD pick
4th RD pick
Nathan Légaré
Gustan Lindstrom
Tanner Pearson (Negative value).

We are really in a position to f***ing overpay for the next big RFA (like Dubois or Tkachuk) and i am all for it.

Its not about DeSmith for Pearson and 3rd.

It's about the assets accumulation that is behind all of that for a couple of tweaking.

Armia has to be on his way out.
Don't think its possible. Armia has negative value.

I think instead Pearson is AHL bound.

We don't care about Kent.

We care about the Habs, like your username.

But it cetainly looks like Kent is doing a sincere job.

a "sincere" job is a nice way of describing his tenure this far.

While any move or draft can be critiqued ad nauseum, there is a solid & observable consistency to the decisions this management group is making that is refreshing... and, imo very aligned with best practices of building cultures of excellence in diverse sport and performance environments.

Future is bright 😎

Casey DeSmith was merely a backup in the NHL and we were probably going to lose him for free on weavers, so the fact that we were able to get a player AND a pick for him is a win in my book.

Pearson has been injured , but rumour was that it was a mismanagement from the nucks medical staffs . i'm sure our staff will be able to solve his injury problem.

Pearson will be the 13th or 14th forward. He sits until he's needed. Inevitably, someone will get hurt at camp.certain guys will rotate in and out of the lineup, as usual.

He also picked up a 5th out of thin air for borrowing Nick Bonino for 3 minutes. But that pick is in 2024. Still, he’s getting close to a complete set of draft picks without giving up anything of value.
