Lots of time and effort being devoted to a guy that's about 2% of our cap space and, probably, a less than 10 minute a game player that's decent on the PK.

We've got much bigger problems than Tanner Glass. If he sucks, he can be traded, waived, or benched. He's not a big concern.

Glass himself isn't a big concern. He'll be traded (Glass for CGY's 2nd? ;)) or put in the AHL.

It's the process of blowing 1.45 mil for 3 years on an awful player that irks me.

Ya know, I haven't watched a ton of Glass, so I'm not going to comment on how bad he is. From what I can tell, it's pretty terrible.

But one thing I do notice is that Pens fans go waaaaaaay out of their way to crap on any player that leaves their team. No matter who it is, it seems. I know that this practice is common among fans of all teams on this board, but it's excessive when the player is an ex-Penguin.

While I'm sure that a lot of the comments about him are fairly accurate, I still take anything written by a Pens fan about a former player with a grain of salt.

Any chance we waive this loser before season starts ? He's literally worse than Pyatt

How does he instil fear into opposing players? Because he has size?

He can't play hockey and he's a mediocre goon.

Another one of Sathers miscalculations.

Dropping the gloves is useless now.

He's a huge upgrade compared to Dorsett. Another reason Dorsett got the boot is that Glass wants #15 ;)

I'd say he knows his business, KO fight. There's blood here...in case you are one of those sore.

We're just as hard on players on the team. Ask anyone what they think of Craig Adams and Rob Scuderi and see what happens

Orpik was a punching bag the past two years and the Glass hate...I don't think I've ever seen a fan base hate a player on their own team as much as we hated Glass. The same seems to be true in Winnipeg and Vancouver.

There is obviously an extreme amount of bandwagoon fans following that team. I mean, just compare the GDTs from the Pitt series and the MTL series. Pitt fans 95% of the time has no cluse whatsoever what they are talking about. Not to talk down someone, but you know the typical fans that only have watched hockey for a few years and then starts to follow a team that plays well.

There are not all that many goons left in this league, and of the ones who still got a job 75% can still play. The cost for a 4th goon that can play pretty well in the market today probably amounts to like 3m per year.

Glass has been around for a while but I've not payed all that much attention to his game, I wanna see him play. But he seems like someone inbetween the goons that only can fight and the goons that can fight and play pretty good. He is definitely a bit better than the uber-childish and crying Pittsburgh fan base give him credit for. And we paid half of 3m per it would have cost to get someone that can play.

I would have prefered if we could have found a young and up and comming guy who could handle this role cheap before getting paid. Now we went this route with a safe pick. Hopefully Glass can keep developing and serve a role for us.

He's been in the bottom-10 players in 5-on-5 puck possession with three different teams and three different sets of linemates in the past four seasons (bottom-3 in two of those). I have to believe he's the problem there. If the Rangers plan on using the 4th in the same manner as last season, it will be to their detriment.

The contract itself is probably not quite as big of a deal as myself and
some others are making it out to be. But the fact that they felt this was a good use of a very scarce asset--cap space--is very concerning to me.

You know I agree with you wholeheartedly, when I saw this signing, I had a wtf reaction much like others here. I am a pro tuffness guy, but Glass has deficiencies where its tough to justify having him.

A few things he's got going for him is that AV is familiar with him, the guy PKs (he sucks but he can do it), and he's someone that will actually step up for the team unlike Dorsett who only fought when he felt the need to. He can skate, and hit, but Glass's game with the puck is Brian McGratten like, thus the terribad nerd stats.

I think he's a placeholder until December, and will be moved soon after July 1st 2015.

A lot of the nerd stat guys get wound up about a difference from 50 CF to 48 CF, but when a guy is sporting a 39 CF its a strong indicator of his inability to contribute in the NHL when it comes to in-whistle play, meaning the guy gets stuck in the defensive zone and can't get out for the majority of his time on the ice, regardless of zone starts.

I know it's crazy but it sounds like he works real hard so maybe he won't completely suck lol. Honestly if he stinks he won't play and it's not a deal that can't be traded away

Or benched, or buried in the minors. This signing is very minor. The only problem is the cap space taken up by it for the time being... which kinda sucks.

This signing is more troublesome for what it symbolizes than for its actual consequences. Adding Tanner Glass signals that Sather might not really know what he's doing or where he should be looking to find value. It throws into question whether last year's deep roster came about more by accident than by any plan in place.

I think you're looking a little too deep into this.

He probably got a lot of "good words" from AV about him. This signing doesn't make sense to me on a lot of levels, tbh.

That's what i've been saying since the signing.

"HE'S JUST A 4TH LINER WE CAN REPLACE HIM IF HE SUX!11!"

Except there's a good chance the replacement will also be below par, if management thinks using Glass in the first place is a decent idea.

This can't be true...

On the main board they are laughing at us, calling Glass the worst turnover machine in the league. And on speed he couldn't beat a friggin snail.

Did we really waste 1.45M of cap space on this? Sounds like it would be better to keep Dorsett :shakehead

A.v. Was not comfortable with Dorest. Plain and simple he took a ton of bad penalties at bad times
