3 points in our last 4 games.

we would have been at 46 points, and a lone in 4th. we need to lose badly to the blues next game. They are on tank.

10 goals in the last 2 games, good f in riddance. At this point we might score 8 on the Blues.

Yeah, but with our crappy D, they might score 9.

Theres just so many bad teams worse than us right now… best we can hope for is 4th last imo

We need a coupe more trades in there quickly. I refuse to believe a rebuilding team like us, is done at the Horvat trade. That will be irresponsbile.

Games of note today:
Jets @ Islanders 4pm pacific Islanders are sitting in 15th spot
Flames @ Coyotes 6:30 pacific Yotes 49 points in 57 games
Hawks @ Stars 6:30 pm Hawks 43 points in 56 games

Canucks 49 points in 57 games
Of the teams below the Canucks only the Ducks have been as bad in the last ten games, no team has been worse.
Also Arizona has gained 6 points on the Canucks, over the last ten games

Go Canucks tank! Do they have a low-end minor league goalie the organization wants a serious look at the last 10 games? That was how the Penguins got Mario.

Picking 4th would be fantastic!
this should be the aim. Its good that the coyotes are winning without Chychrun, I have no idea how that team maintains morale, but kudos to them and their coach. But if they do trade Vej away, I doubt we have any chance to finish within Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson/Michkov range.

Finally, after a long. dark decade of being in the lottery, the Canucks are at last doing the right thing down the stretch.

They're elevating guys from the AHL to see what they have, and cutting down the ice time of their best players.

They're shutting guys down for the season, particularly if they have a nagging injury that's troubled them for a long time. No point in aggravating an injury in 'mean nothing; games.

They're placing guys on LTIR to maximize cap space heading into the trade deadline.

They're playing their backup goalies more than they would normally.....because, well you know why.

And they're trading all of their impending UFA's and will probably be active at the deadline with trades while looking to stockpile more picks and prospects.

It's not like 'they're tying to lose', it's just that they're not 'doing all they can' to win every night.

Of course this is something Benning stubbornly refused to ever do--either because he was delusional about this team going on a run and somehow miraculously squeezing into the playoffs; or the owner wouldn't let him do it.

But all the Canucks accomplished during those years was winning a bunch of meaningless games in garbage time, and jeopardizing their draft position. And then a bunch of their UFA's walked for nothing in the off-season.

Not trying to be a downer on the tank, because things have been going surprisingly well the past couple weeks, but finishing 4th is like best case miracle scenario. St. Louis is crashing hard, and if San Jose trades their big chips then they will plummet like a meteor towards Chicago, Columbus and Anaheim. The Coyotes are surprising but I imagine the universe will balance out at some point there.

The Canucks as bad as they are still have the potential to outscore just enough of their problems to finish in the 7-9 range. Especially if Demko comes back and plays even average. Unless they find a way to dump a few more point producers, I feel like Pettersson and Hughes alone will pull them out of the bottom 4 or 5.

I feel the same, the diffrerence btw 4 and 5 is unfortunately significant. Losing Boeser and Schenn and Garland may do it though. The wildcard is Demko of course, and he has every reason to prove to himself that the first half was an aberration..... and in a sense I want to see the same too, but not at the expense of the tank.

at 4-6 there is a shot at winning the lottery for 1-2, thats probably the best one can hope.

traditionally, the Canucks will be in the position of the Islanders right now. Writing is on the wall that the future is fading, yet they are mortgaging their future to chase the hope that "anything can happen"
