Tampa defeats Toronto 4 games to 3

Muzzin 5.5M
Holl 2M
Kerfoot 3.5M
Mikheyev 1.65M (he's walking)
Kessel 1.2M coming off the books
Kase 1.25M (he's walking)

Toronto should be moving all 3 of the guys I mentioned, it won't be too difficult.

Engvall is up for a raise
Soup is up for a raise
Riellys 2.5M raise kicks in

Not saying it can’t work but for every good addition Dubas makes he makes a horrible one. So good luck with that.

A top 4D and top 6 winger is going to be at least $8M - $11M combined. Backup will be around $1M to $2M. The Leafs need easily $10M in cap space to round out their team. And if I remember correctly, they have less than $3M in cap space next season?

Exactly. This team can easily regress next year.

Outplayed...still lose...it's like your definition of outplaying a team doesn't yield actual results. Might be time to turn over a...new Leaf.
You see, you don't understand hockey. When I use my calculator it clearly shows me that this leafs team is better than everyone. It's a shame hockey games aren't played on a calculator.

Would have thought that after years of losing Leaf fans would be pretty quick about moving through the stages of grief. Gotta admit though, watching one or two Leaf fans dig their heels in and deny the outcome is pretty funny, whatever coping mechanism works for you I guess

Just saw videos on news of folks fighting, sad to see. Hope the guy that was shown on TV removing his Tampa jersey in the middle of a sea of Leafs jerseys made it home alive.

It's pretty hilarious. Such a huge day for fans of all these crappy Canadian teams. Their stanley cup.
I feel kind of bad for them, their teams are so trash they get a sense of accomplishment out of the Leafs losing. I pray we never become this desperate.
No this is just a fun diversion, the Stanley Cup Final was our Stanley Cup Final.

"You guys got to go to the finals when Weber and Price emptied the tank, went on LTIR, and then started a rebuild including complete scorched earth on the front office where the only thing it cost you in the long term was essentially trading Kotkaniemi for Dvorak" is not a particularly great burn.

Last year the cope was that the Habs going to the final would make them double down on Bergevin's management style and stay mediocre forever. Now that they've instead fired the whole front office and started rebuilding deliberately and got a ton of great value at the deadline it's back to apparently just calling the team trash for rebuilding when your entire fanbase's cope last year was that winning that series would prevent the team from starting the rebuild they needed.

Yes the only proper, intelligent, informed response to any series is to praise the winner and laugh at the loser as fatally flawed, and no analysis beyond that means anything or is even welcome.

Not a Toronto fan. I watched complete series. Toronto played excellent against the Champs. Tampa had its questionable years back in 2010-2016. Lots of losses ( they were excellent team). Need to have lucky 🍀 bounces. Then it goes your way. Now Tampa is solid team. Little luck 🍀 goes there way. Toronto needs little 🍀. I wouldn’t make many changes. Leafs are right there For a championship team.

I for one can't imagine why people would mock the Leafs considering how not annoying their fanbase is.

***reads a thread trashing and mocking the leafs for losing a one goal game 7 to the back to back champs****

"I CANT BELIEVE HOW ANNOYING LEAFS FANS ARE!!!"

The Leafs just outplayed the back to back cup champs without top 4 D or 2nd line W?

Amazing!

All of these Canadian teams have been more successful than the Leafs.
Like I said earlier the funniest part is the cope last year was that the Habs doomed themselves to endless mediocrity by going on the playoff run last year, they were going to sign Bergevin and Danault for lifetime deals, and just finish with 91 points every year and miss the playoffs.

But now that we're starting the full rebuild that we apparently needed but wouldn't get after the playoff run it's a bad thing lmao

The medicine is not going down easily.

Ah the benefits of low expectations.
Longest cup-drought, longest series drought and here's a Leafs fan talking about low expectations.

It’s more intelligent and informed than blaming the refs for losing games 6 and 7.
That’s not ‘analysis’. That’s whining and a lame excuse.
Be better.

The breakdown wasn't as harsh last year. Seems like these losses are really getting to you.

Totally weird that me, a Leafs fan in the leafs series thread, would be unhappy that the Leafs just lost a game 7.

Totally normal that fans of all the shitty Canadian teams are here celebrating and mocking in this, the Leafs series thread.
