This is a big offseason to keep this team going on the right path just because of the moving parts. I think we were capable of more than what we showed this round but Tampa is also really great. Even getting to the second round isn't that easy. I don't want to sacrifice everything for the future, but I think we are now in the part of the window where we need to be very aggressive this offseason.

Agreed, this feels like the transition point. We've built the program up, set the new standard, and taken our growing pains over the past couple seasons. We have some work to do this offseason, but it should largely set up the next 3 years as the window for this core to come into its own and truly compete.

Having grown up in NJ and having followed the Devils, these past few playoff eliminations have a familiar feel. The Devils had become quite good during the regular season and made the postseason consistently. The postseason wasn't as friendly to them, and they were eliminated in the first round for four straight years. Finally, in '94, they made it to the conference finals and in '95 they won their first of three cups. All the while they were getting the right pieces in place. Between '94 and '03, they won three cups (and nearly a 4th in'01.) A team on the verge of a dynasty. I think we are on a similar path.

Yep, I have no hate for Tampa after this. They were the better team. It is what it is.

Yes, as I said before, we went up against the fully operational battle station. And it's much tougher than the Tampa team they battled to a stalemate in the regular season.

The debate for the off-season is how to improve to be able to compete with a team of that caliber. But it was a heck of a season and running into this team isn't going to taint it for me.

The entire team sat on the bench for a solid 2 mins after the final horn

Completely gutted tonight. Will need some time to collect thoughts. We deserved to lose in this fashion but that doesn't make it easier. Changes need to be made this off-season and that could backfire. Not a great spot to be in

And we did it missing Trocheck and Nino for most of the series, not saying we would have beat them if they were healthy but we were short handed too.

Good job Bokts and their fans good luck the rest of the way.

Gotta say I love Rod more than I could after watching the presser. He handles the media very well, even thanked them. He also imo "gets it" and feels what we're feeling that just making the playoffs isn't going to cut it going forward.
Hopefully they get him re-signed quickly. He's finally starting to hit his stride as a coach with more experience. And hopefully they bring in reinforcements this offseason.
