Tage Thompson doesn't impress so far

Tage is a beast and I still have the Sabres as a 7-10 finish in the East despite the slow start. That’s a very young room really figuring it out on the fly and growing up together. If they get it right, they can be pretty legit. Thompson is a huge part of that.

Tage started late last season as well. There is no denying his skill, but his consistency across the entirety of a full season I have no problem in questioning. He's worth the 7+ mil he's getting paid. Ultimately, he makes those around him better. But ya, consistency needs to improve.

Please keep carrying Biro like he did when he got his first goal.
You think going to that area and scoring while getting buried from behind is being carried? Was he being carried when he did the same thing for Tage earlier in the period taking a big hit in the wall to deliver a beauty to set him up?

OP needs to watch a few more seasons and pay attention to scoring trends before starting another thread like this.

Tage had 29 shots in 6 games when the thread was made. That's a nearly 400 shot pace over 82 games, and you think they're not going to start going in?
I took him in the pool and have not been concerned at all. He will snipe.

1+0 in 6 gp, -4. And Buffalo is the last in Atlantic.
a lot wishful thinking in the thread title?

Tage will have a great season.

Biro deserved and earned the goal, but tage did the leg work on that one.

One day there will be a book written about the giant winger who was barely protected in an expansion draft, was reportedly available for a 5th round pick and had no production who…when moved to center due to injuries…had this happen:

2021-22 - scored 38 goals out of nowhere

2022-23 - faced criticism for being signed to a 7 year 50 million dollar extension off of one unsustainable year. Then scored 47 goals and added playmaking out of nowhere for 47 assists

2023-24 faced criticism for his counting stats after six games while underlying numbers showed an unlucky guy dominating possession (who put up 8 points the next 4 games)…and was put on the PK and helped turn it from consistently terrible to awesome overnight.

Keep doubting him. In year 4 he will learn how to fly or become invisible or something.

There has never been a development path like this one.

impressed now? Tage is also proving to be a penalty killer extraordinaire. He has played over 30 minutes on the PK with no goals against and a short handed goal

We should try him in goal.

He's definitely improved since I started the topic but the team is still very inconsistent. In the previous game they were destroyed by Phily, today they beat Toronto. The same can be said about Thompson.

I wonder, where he was vs Flyers? 0 points, 3 SOG, -2? And he scored just one goal in todays' game. So it means 2+0 in 8 games and 4+4 in 4 games. Does it look great? Not sure about this.
