Call me a luddite, but I don't need Tage changing from whatever twig he used last year. It seemed to work very, very well.
The brands roll out new sticks every year. The keys are the flex, curve, and kickpoint (line of stick). My guess is that he won't mess with the flex, curve, and using a high kickpoint stick (Unless his Tacks stick was really a mid or low kickpoint stick with Tacks graphics).

all that was acomplished was making our whole fanbase see him as a flop
Well I think since this comment in 2019, Tage has done an outstanding turnaround job.

If I look through this thread I’ll no doubt find my big post making fun of his skating. I stand by it, based on what I saw at the time.

I still see Tage as a risk. He’s had one smashing year. Skinner did that then regressed and everyone hated the contract. I am worried that Tage doesn’t live up to this year’s standards.

At ~7 per year he has a safety net. If we get the same totals, he’s a steal. If he regresses a bit, he’s still good value. I just hope he doesn’t become another player not worth the money he’s being paid.

Playing with Capfriendly, these are some of his comparables, noting everyone on this list is getting paid more than him apart from Cozens and Cirelli. I am optimistic, but with a little demon of worry sitting on my shoulder going “it was one good year”.

He's had two good years in a row - not just one. And a lot of his goals weren't flukes or a result of a abnormally high shooting percentage.

If anything, he should be better because he was playing injured in the last couple of months.

Yeah that is a fair comment. Two years ago would also warrant roughly 7AAV.

I know he’s skilful, and I’m let’s say … 90% confident he’s going to continue like he has been. But with this team I’m damaged goods. Like a man who has been cheated on too many times in the past, worrying about the great lady he’s found himself.

The only "regression" in Thompson's game will be a possible reduction in pts from playing on the proper side of the puck more often. If he does that well and doesn't simply get himself caught in no-mans-land too many times, he should actually go well over 100 pts because he'll generate MORE offense from better defense/TOs/transition. Same for Cozens, Quinn, Peterka, Mittelstadt, Olofsson, Krebs, Skinner and Tuch to a lesser extent.

I’m on the fence if he will be able to surpass what he did last season. Teams started to totally cheat to prevent his one timer on the PP which could slow down the production slightly. I still think at minimum he is a PPG guy so still well worth the money, and of course I hope it goes the other way and he hits 100 this year.

Right on. My only worry about Tage is wear and tear/injury. He has been durable and somehow toughed out 78 games through his back trouble last year. But he's an outlier, lanky body in the league and he's going to draw a ton of little cheap shots as our 100pt guy. There's just a small part of me that worries about him breaking down too early, but that's not for a couple years. We need to protect him.
