Player Discussion Tage Thompson 2

A unicorn that will probably never happen again. Sometimes good things do happen to good people.

This has probably been said in the past, but what a blessing it is that Tage is turning into an elite #1 center. Those types of players are so freaking hard to come by. You either need to get lucky and strike gold late in the draft (Datsyuk) or suck donkey balls and draft top 3, and even that isn't a guarantee. Good luck trying to trade for one or sign one in their prime in FA. Teams rarely ever let a player of his caliber go, and if they do- you're paying out the ass to get him.

Our trajectory toward becoming a contender has drastically changed now that Tage is a franchise center. We'd still be looking for our guy if Tage didn't become what he is today, and there's little guarantee we would've found someone of his caliber. In fact, it's highly unlikely. Our offseason plans would be a lot different had he busted.

So, thank you hockey god and Granato for unlocking a demon in this kid. If we win a cup in the next 5 years, Tage becoming an elite center will be one of the biggest reasons why. Let. That. Sink. In.

So whats the official story with Tage Thompson and his injury(s)/play? I was still holding out hope that he could hit 50 goals. Obviously time is nearly up. Hard enough to observe for an outsider like me, can't imagine what it's like for die hard Buffalo fans.

He got an elbow in the ribs from Meier in the Jersey game and that put him out of commission.

Was that recent? And did he go through a separate injury prior to the elbow to the ribs? Seems like the last third to half of the season was rough.

He had some sort of chronic UBI and then Meier got him with an elbow in his right lower ribs in the game Dahlin rump-trucked Hischier later. Dahlin and Meier had a thing when Meier was in town with San Jose, it may have been personal. But Meier's play was dirty.

Thanks, I appreciate the info.

Glad to see Tage was in and got a goal and an assist!

He's a trooper, ribs are rough.. thats some sharp shooting that breaks thru narcotics.. Certainly affects his shot.. Add the wrist and you know who's son he is. One tough mutha. Thought he shouldn't be playing but less minutes he did alright early.

I retract. After seeing him improve greatly after the Florida game.. Way to Rasmus.. deliberate misery needs to be spread around to cheap cheesy bastards.

I retract Should also be a title for hamsandwichton
blog.

For what it's worth, he's also had a massive wrap job on his right wrist for a while too, which was possibly the previous UBI.
much appreciated as well.
when the seasons over would love to know scoop about dahlin injury, and few others clearly playing thru.

He's trying but he's just not right. Will be interesting to hear if the actuality of the injury jibes with the speculation.

We’ll never hear the actual injury, but as someone who has suffered a rib injury, he’s exhibited the hallmarks of that.

Add on to that the wrist wrap, he’s playing hurt. Either instance is gonna have him not be so aggressive, let alone doubling up

Yup, and Granato confirms he's going to have to deal with the pain. Him and Dahlin, probably our two best players when healthy, have been banged up for a bit now, and yet, the team is still finding ways to rack up points. That's encouraging at least!
