Player Discussion Tage Thompson 2

Ya know, it's a bit scary.

We've pretty well all noted that Tage hasn't been playing well for the last week or two. Yet he's STILL finding ways to put points up. The last time he went consecutive games pointsless was 11/23 and 11/25

What's going to happen when he starts playing well again?

Given the additional attention, that's impressive. He's finding a way to contribute. That OT play through Heiskanen to feed Power was some silky smooth passing, and what he did to Miller gaining the line before VO's goal? All the handles. It's not dropping with enormous nights games right now, but it's really impressive that he's still finding ways to manufacture points.

Tage with 3 point game number 9 of the season.

Has he entered the Hart conversation yet?
I think he would need most goal, be in a clear tier directly behind McDavid but clear of everyone else in points, and the Sabres need to do better than sneak in.

Basically, he needs the Canadian media to be watching Ovie and Sid get hunted down so that they are paying attention while Tage gets hot and makes a huge surge to catch McDavid. Then as the season comes to a close the media will be talking about the Sabres sudden emergence from nothing and oh my goodness would look at Tage Thompson literally scoring the hapless Sabres back into relevance. And then Edmonton probably still needs to miss the playoffs.

Saw a fan on FB like 3 days ago say that Tage needs to be benched lololololol

I remember years ago seeing something—a twitter account or a subreddit or something—that was purely a collection of the best comments found on official Sabres social media stuff. I wonder if it or something similar still exists. Always a funny, but frightening read.

In two years we're going to be arguing that Kevyn Adams has only been successful because Botterill left him stacked with great young players and prospects, like Tage Thompson.

I can dream, right? :DD

When Tage starts popping in 40-50 goals a season Botterill will be called a scouting savant and be inundated with GM job offers.

If Thompson was in the shootout and fired a slap shot from the top of the circles as hard as he could, hardest shot competition-style, it would probably go in right?
